Can a D3 key be cloned if opened up? Valet concern

Hi
Left my D3 at the in-car park valet at a well known Shopping Centre in the North East today.
When I returned the key was in the ignition, nothing odd there.

On returning home, I notice that the key is broken.

It has definitely been opened.
The spring keeping the blade under tension is missing, as is the chrome insert you use to attach a key ring to it. I have had them open myself so I know.

Called them but no answer and I am on my way out.
Could be innocent, in that it was dropped and came apart (but I doubt it)

Am I right to be concerned? Can a key be cloned if opened up?

Cheers

You dont need to open it up if you have the right equipment to clone, if you know somebody near to you who have the IID tool ask them to check how many keys have been programmed to the car.

Flack Thumbs Up
