Hi, a welded join at rear section of the exhaust has broken all way round, causing annoying rattle at tick over, took ages to locate as never expected it, exhaust is in a good condition,
Q, Is can exhausts be welded ?
Thanks

DG posted this a while back, which supposedly only affects MY13 onwards:

Title 3.0 TDV6 Centre Exhaust Silencer Rattle
Category Engine
Last modified 15-Nov-2013 00:00:00
Symptom 403000 Exhaust System Concerns
Content
Issue:
Rattle noise emitting from the centre exhaust silencer on 3.0 TDV6 derivatives.
Cause:
Welded joint internal to the silencer adrift.
Action:
Replace centre exhaust silencer (refer to Microcat for part number details).
Please only raise an EPQR if the date code etched into the silencer is after 18th July 2013.
Might be worth you getting in touch with Land Rover about it, see if they will repair it for you. If not, I see no reason why they could not be welded.

Yes it can, but care needs to be taken to ensure alignment and that you don't do more damage. I took mine to a local stainless steel fabricators. Looks like it came straight from the factory

Having seen the TSB that was posted in the post that's been posted here ( ) I sent a friend back to LR (he bought my XS 2 years ago) as his rear box had cracked. They replaced the whole thing FOC.
AWESOME! And thanks who ever posted that first. PAGODA

Yup, had this recently on my MY11 D4. Shukers just replaced the relevant exhaust system bits for me.
