What can you do with a GAP IId

Before I get flamed or told to search the many pages I’ll point out that I did have a GAP IID and used it on my D3 (mostly for fault clearing) and an L322 for the same reason.

But, there was hardly anything you could edit in the CCF other than suspension heights and I didn’t want to mess with the settings that Land Rover spent millions of pounds perfecting.

So, without need for a lengthy essay, what could I use one for on my 2016 D4 that might be of some use other than fault code reading and clearing and service light reset (which my local Indy will do anyway)

Thanks! 😀

I’m sure many on here will advise lots of things you can do. Your car is probably well specified so you don’t need to add much ( heated steering wheel?). I do very little with mine, but am aware you can do a BMS reset after a battery change , which is recommended. ( for either battery).
Looking forward to seeing responses from those in the know.

It all depends on how you use it and how confident you are to do the things it can do. In the wrong hands it can disable the car, but Pat is always on hand via email or the board to help with problems.

In the early years a lot of users did mess up there cars, but this web site was a great help for them as some of us was and still are beta testers for GAP.

I still have a Faultmate MSV Pro with many licenses for other models of LR, this was the best tool before IID, but it was not user friendly and was very easy to mess up the CCF file. I only have it as a back up tool now.

New owners of LR dont realize how lucky they are to have a tool such as the IID, it changed our diagnostics way of working a great tool. But like any tool you have to know how to use it.

I still do a bit of work for a local garage, they have a snap on tool that they wont use on the LR cars, as every time they do it messes something up, so now they just call me to come and diagnose the faults on LR's for them.

Flack Thumbs Up
