Can i realistically upgrade a GS to HSE/Lamdmark spec?
Morning. Acquired a 2013 GS, almost by accident - newer than we were going to buy and higher mileage but the deal was tempting enough.
My breaker pal insists most things are plug and play with IID configuration, but he has some form for being wrong......
So, i am looking to do this as a bare minimum-
Leather seats, heated. Electric and memory if poss.
Heated steering wheel.
Integrated satnav with video screen.
Rear camera
Remote FBH (i have a d3 kit on the shelf, unsure if the same).
Maybe the harman-kardon speakers?
Automatic lights (any because i now have the switch - needed and got one with a front fogs switch)
Outside i will want to add front fogs, the bumper is poor anyway.
I could move this one on once shes had some tlc and then jump into a higher spec car - although i doubt available budget will stretch to something the same age hence exploring this route.
Thanks guys

Your first two are possible to a degree.
The seat swap for non memory is easy enough, you would need a new heating controller panel with the right switch for heated seat. If you want memory function you need extra wiring loom and switching to the door card.
My D4 commercial, which is effectively a GS had heated cloth seats. I changed these to heated electric leather versions, just a straight swap with no memory function.
Heated steering wheel is a swap with the right year of wheel and possibly the clock spring. Some get it without editing the ccf, others have to edit the ccf.
The audio/information system, is a major rewiring task.
Not sure on the other things?
Discovery commercial tdv6 auto 2013
Volkswagen t6 lwb Kombi dsg 4motion 2018
Volkswagen t5.1 lwb single cab tipper 2013
Discovery commercial sdv6 auto 2014 gone and not really missed.
Range Rover Tdv8 gone
Freelander 2 I6 very sadly gone
VW t5 Dsg gone and missed

Wow famous five-what a task. Looks even more involved than i thought it would be.
I wonder if theres a non-oem solution to upgrade the telematics so theres camera/navigation etc along with the dab/streaming/bluetooth thats already within the cars spec? No doubt would lose the cluster radio etc info and lose the steering wheel controls which I wouldnt want.....

An HSE when new had over £20,000 worth of extras over a GS, this is never taken into account when buying S/H, IMHO if you want the goodies buy a S/H HSE , whatever extras you fit on a GS it will always be a GS when you move it on.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

M3DPO - i realise that and yes you are correct - it will only ever be an upgraded GS however resale value is of secondary consideration - the deal that was done on the GS made it a no brainer. I can flip it out but under the surface it aint a bad car - hence exploring how far i can take it spec wise without killing myself doing it. Dont need a sunroof etc. Probably dont need memory seats either. Having had a think this morning, the must haves are front fogs, front pdc, rear camera and screen, navigation of a sort, heated leather seats, remote fbh, and maybe the heated wheel.

I can count on my fingers the number of times I’ve actually needed fog lights in the past 40 years of driving.
I agree that the bumper looks better with them though. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
2010 D4 HSE (A bit bling)-GONE
2014 D4 HSE (Almost too bling)-GONE
2015 D4 HSE (A heated what?)-GONE
2016 D4 Landmark (Written Off)-GONE
2016 D4 Landmark (Surely the last!) PD1881 rims-GONE
2017 FFRR SDV8 Autobiography (now semi-retired)

Ok, so let’s go through the list and I have had them all on two Discos first one was new 54 reg kept it about 13 years second facelift D4, both HSE and HSE lux.
Fog easy retro fit but as previously said pointless apart from cosmetic, I fitted ring Daylight running lights into the D3, D4 converted them to spot/driving lights as the D4 original are pathetic.
Sunroof is out unless you go back 25 years and fit a plastic one which was all the rage.
Heated memory seats, if there are two or more drivers memory are brilliant particularly on the D4 with easy access(these lower on exit and raise on door closing), if only one driver pointless although the memory reverse dip side mirrors are very good and useful, heated are brilliant and almost essential for leather.
FPD or front camera, rear camera, navigation, DVD player, front & Rear screen(s) can all be fitted through a GVIF interface, you need a D3 screen fitted, quite a challenge but I’ve done it.
Remote FBH see site member “Bodsy” for instance, there are others, he for one will fix you up with everything you need.
Heated wheel, you just need the wheel with the switches, I would never buy a car without it!
Good luck you’ve got your work cut out, before you start make sure all the other essentials have been done.It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

This has moved on a bit today - with the 'lost' service history now found, she had an LR replacement engine 3 years/15k miles ago so happy days, I can relax about her a little touch and start modding!
Remote fbh - I have the gap tool but no timed climate as she's not got the sat nav screen. Can I fit a kit that doesn't need the timed climate/satnav screen ?
Cheers

good man - what I suggest you look into is the Altox remote heater.
I had the leads to my GS to plug into the rear connection Altox via Martins loom he sells in the shop. So hoping it would work for you though I have the colour screen now.
They can be fitted by forum sponsors such as bodsy too.

Hi chap.
Fitting not an issue and I have the IID tool too, just trying to see which is the best option.
I will be fitting the big screen soon as my pal now has one 'in stock' off a breaker.
Thanks

Procuring a load of the bits today off a distant pal of a pal who is breaking a car, believed to be an HSE although it may be a 2014 on one, details are sketchy right now as he hasn't called me back directly yet.
Do I have to do the speakers? Seems like you had some hassle there with connectors and what have you.
I too need to put in the rear camera loom which I will do while its all apart (and I may well defer till after Xmas as the car is needed).
What year was the car you converted?
I do wonder if the way forward may be to use some bits from an XS as it will have the big screen etc but not be quite so complex as HSE spec perhaps? Not sure on that.

Mines a 63 pre S/S.
Your mates HSE if its a S/S and yours is 2013 will have different dash wiring so not that useful.
I'd say get as much loom from the HSE as you can find and donor it into yours
body / doors / etc and yes speakers will be needed too

More info - its out of a 2015 landmark, but the guy messaged me to say i dont need the full dash loom only the audio bit (and rv camera). Hes done a similar conversion on a 2014 commercial and used a 2015 loom he recalls. He does not have all of the speaker installed though.
Odd.......
