Canadian rockies
Hi,
It's that time of year to start thinking about holidays. We're thinking of heading to the Rockies, fly/drive out of Calgary. Just wondering if anyone has been and got any suggestions ?
Cheers

If you're hiring a camper (RV) you will soon learn their favourite saying, "that will be extra sir", b d's,
Buy the best travel insurance you can, ambulance services are private and more enthusiastic than London taxis, don't ask me how I know.
Joking aside they are very welcoming and friendly to us Brits. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

One golden tip : do NOT keep your food in your car, but hang it in a tree from a rope...
Bears might get the food, but at least the car keeps in one piece..

the're bears there and you will see them, no worries just keep your finger on the anti-bear spray aerosol button (available from all shops), as Billy Connoly said after spending time there " I've had my bl-- dy finger on that aerosol button for so long I've got arthritis in my hand"It can when others can't,

We're in the process of planning a trip to include the Rockies. We're flying into Alaska (Fairbanks) hiring a car and sightseeing in that area. Then the train from Fairbanks to Anchorage (long day) hiring a car in Anchorage and sightseeing before a cruise from Anchorage to Vancouver. Hiring another car in Vancouver to drive into the Rockies and the Icefields Parkway to Jasper. We fly our return flight from Calgary. We've been to Banff and Lake Louse before many years ago for skiing and I've always wanted to return in the summer. Too much to see in three weeks really but hey ho we're looking forward to it especially after seeing a tv programme the other night that followed our cruise but in the opposite direction.

If you can't find suitable accommodation in Banff or Lake Louise, you could check out Canmore - it's outside the park and more recently developed - 20 mins from Banff. The thing to do is the drive from Banff/Lake Louise to Jasper which is beautiful - there aren't accommodations between unless you camp.Stewart
