I know some of you have been, so I'm looking for some tips. Looking to go next Easter, I need some info on which island to choose, and where to stay. Need to keep costs reasonable if possible, so no top end stuff please. There are two rules for success,
1. Never tell everything you know.

Only been to Sal, so;
We went to Sal, one of the larger islands, last December. There are only two reasons to go to Sal, sea and sun or wind/kite surfing. It has great surf and winds for the latter. We went for the former, a winter break, and stayed at the Riu Funana which was great. Big place, nice lush green gardens, good facilities, nice beach. Just what we wanted. Can't recall the cost, my wife found a good deal on line.
I have heard others say that they have found the islands too windy, when we were there there was a pleasant breeze which balanced out the heat of the sun.
There is virtually nothing to do on Sal, it's a flat, sand blasted, rocky island. When we were coming in to land looking out of the window it was a WTF moment it's that barren and uninspiring. We did a 4x4 Safari and at a leisurely pace saw everything in less than a day. Floating in the salt pans at the north end of the island was fun.
Would we go back?, yes if we just wanted a week's chilling in some good winter sun.
Hopefully others can comment on the other islands, I believe some of them are quite green and very different to Sal. I'll be interested to find out myself.

Thanks. That's about what I had heard. Might have to consider further afield. Receptionist at work has been and said more or less the same. There are two rules for success,
1. Never tell everything you know.

I have to agree with Arthur.
10 days this Easter all inc.
Great if into wind/kite surfing. Main beach was lovely. Great for lazing around the pool if you can find a spot out of the wind.
Day trip via 4x4 allowed a leisurely drive but could be done in less.
Diving, not brilliant, water at 21°, limited but very healthy fish life, lots of current.
Hotel Rui Funana was ok though food was limited choice & was craving more variety after a week.
Staff were great, reps were AWOL.
Funana & sister/adjoining complex undergoing refurb later this year.
I'd try another island if heading back that way but in no real rush. Paul.

A friend of mine went last year and said he wished he hadn't as it was so boring with nothing to do.
I suppose if you just want to chill out and re-charge the batteries then it would be fine.
Wouldn't be for me though, I'd get bored D3 Metropolis Bonatti Grey-Alpaca Leather-adaptive headlights-fridge-EGR blanking kit-Harmen Karden-Cruise-4x4 info enabled-Tinted Windows-Heated F&R Seats-Rosen rear Entertainment-LED'S everywhere -Smoked Side Repeaters-Rear Aircon-Vredestein Wintrac 4 Extreme-Puddle and Footwell Lamps-Stainless Steel Side Protection Tubes- NEW ASHTRAY ( thanks to dsd1036 )

Went to Sal last Jan for the kitesurfing and a warm week. Many of the all inclusive hotels are very similar and you could be any where in the world. Would we go back?... Kiting yes but otherwise probably,.. Not many places that time of year a 5hr flight and no real time change for guaranteed warmth...
