Captain Kirk in Space
Given Kirk’s history, what’s the betting he tries to shag the female crew member?

You do know Kirk is a fictional character, yes?

Sorry, but it cost our environment - 300 tons to CO2 sending a 90 year old actor for a 10 minute flight in space. It’s totally irresponsible unnecessary pollution.

I didn’t say he’d succeed, just try.

The New York Times, The Guardian, The Independent, BBC etc. Backed and quoted from various authorities, including NASA.
To be honest, you can’t send a rocket into space without there being an environmental cost and you don’t need to reference that!

I asked out of genuine interest as it's quite a specific figure. I wonder who first used it - news agencies all just quote the same press releases and each other so a story has lots of "sources" stating something but there is actually only one real source.
The New Shepard's BE-3 engine is a liquid hydrogen/liquid oxygen engine. Both of those can be produced using renewable energy (although I have no doubt they won't be in the case of these flights). So potentially the CO2 loading could be much less.
And yes, sending things in to space has an environmental cost, but so does all human activity. We should be careful decrying others when we also pollute.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

More interesting figure would be what would be the difference in co2 if the whole thing hadn’t happened. No building the rocket/capsule, rocket fuel, no setting up the site, no fuel for private jets flying everybody around or there & back, etc, etc, etc. The green billionaires love to preach at us, lots of do as I say not as I do. And no, I don’t accept that things are greener using renewables unless everything is powered by renewables with a surplus, the green power they use up needs to be generated by normal means to make up for its use.

Space Tourism is just a particularly frivolous way to waste the environment.
Yes, there are other things people do without regard, but if we go on the premise that we can’t decry it because in some shape or form we all pollute, then we are never going to forward.
