Car Hire at Malaga Airport
Any recommendations for a decent car hire company at Malaga Airport?

Just returned from there. Avis was a 90 min wait so would avoid them. I have used Niza Cars and Helle Hollis before both are out of the airport and need a 5-10min transfer (they send a van to come and pick you up) but once you are there zero waiting time and decent service.

I use Malagacar. 1 min transfer which can be a bit of a pain when it's busy but have had good service.

I've used these guys for about past 6 years based on recommendations
Wait for you in arrivals, escort you to the car, carry your luggage (If you want them to). On the way back they are waiting at departures drop-off to take the car back - no hassle hanging around at all
Couple of years ago Ford Focus we had cut out on last day of holiday followed by EML going off - rang them very late that night up as flying home early next AM
No hassle, no bother, truck arrived to tow car away followed by big Merc people carrier to take us back to Malaga
Personally, I don't even bother looking at other companies - I'm all booked for 3 weeks in July

Thanks for the tips. Car hire is a real minefield so personal experiences are really helpful.

Just DON'T use GoldCar . The swindled me out of £80. Tesco bank initially fought it for me, but backed out. Despite the fact that I had clear evidence of them forging a document
I'm ashamed to say that I just let it lie, which is of course what these 's rely on. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

^^interesting - see a lot of Gold Car motors zipping about (never used them myself)
Not even sure if it is there anymore since airport expanded but I used to hate the basement Car Hire Desks at Malaga - absolute torture - one of the reasons I like the guys I use

I used Goldcar a couple of years back & they were fine.
However - one important lesson I learnt......
When asked if I wanted the extra top-up insurance, or leave a €500 deposit on my credit card, I opted for leaving the deposit. But - they debit then re-credit your card at different exchange rates & it ended up costing me more than the top-up insurance would have done (about €70 I think)
Not Goldcar's fault, they just debited €500 & credited €500, but because my card was a sterling one, the transactions used exchange rates - first to buy € then to buy £.
Probably wouldn't have had this issue with a Spanish bank card, or a pre-paid travellers card.

Good point about the deposit and exchange rate issue. I'm planning to use a prepaid euro credit card so hopefully won't be a problem.

Guys I use don't take a deposit - only extra is fuel if you don't return it at the same level you picked it up with, apart from that - nothing

I like the sound of autonavarro but having checked the website, I can't see the type of car I need in their fleet. I need a Passat or Octavia sized car but that's not there. Lots of Polo/Golf sized cars then a big jump to large people carriers and minibuses.

Gold Car vehicles are great, usually less than a year old. That wasn't the issue.
When dealing with Tesco Bank complaints team, they told me they had literally hundreds of complaints that summer (2016) about Gold Car.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
