Gareth,

My experience was driving HGV's - they had scoring tables & I never bothered with trying as I always pulled away "promptly" so as not to impede other traffic. My score was always about mid way.

Another thing you were "flagged" for was going over 2,000 rpm so if you kept under that your progress on gradiants was dangerous the way you got in the way of everyone else (including other HGV's). They were autos too and always specced with the lowest power engines. At one time you could over ride the gearbox but when I left they were starting to inhibit that.

No such Censored to contend with now - I drive a 26ton 6 x 6 Mercedes Gritter/snowplough - nice bit of kit !!

Myself and the wife on our 2014 D4 XXV is £700 with NFU and a long list of specified modifications/add ons. Clean records. Garaged. Tracker and Ghost (Ghost attracts zero discount but is 'noted' as risk reducing they say).

Just had my renewal quote in from Churchill: £1400!!!!! (Insurance Postcode area 'C')
Last year it was £1100.

Now renewed with 1st CENTRAL for £700 with enhanced cover & courtesy car. Winner, winner, chicken dinner. Bye-bye Churchill.

But it wont be Central next year. They come in low and then hike on renewal. Central 1 were 25% more expensive on renewal than Aviva for me.

This is it. Every insurance company hikes quotes so I always jump ship. Its crazy really because if Churchill had dropped it by say, fifty quid, I may well have said sod it & stayed but now they've lost over a grand... (for at least another year). Mind you, other people may jump ship to them from elsewhere so it probably evens-out. Stupid isn't it? The first insurance company that has a customer loyalty scheme (and advertises it) will clean up in this climate...

I'm stuck with Admiral because they seem to be the only ones that will insure my daughters on my car, indeed the only ones that would insure my youngest on her D3 when she was 17.

Thumbs Up Mind you, service has been good when i've needed it.

We've also found Admiral to be flexible and accommodating (so to speak) - over the years I have tried others but usually end up coming back to them for a variety of reasons.

My Hastings jumped by £300 despite an extra years NCB.

However a search online only gave one result significantly lower and that one lacks windscreen cover which given the c**p on the roads and how much a heated Land Rover screen costs is significant.

As we have a second car I don’t need that particular option but can’t take it out. It does highlight how hard it is to compare policies when there are so many features that can vary.
A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an is still an EV. Strictly speaking its SWMBO.
