Not a bad review I suppose but he's pretty hard on a few items.
Economy. His economy was appalling and he made a big thing of it. Fully loaded with an admitted lead foot he got less than 30 mpg. I would have expected more from such a journey but I felt he was a bit harsh. Yes compared to a Citreon Grand picasso with a 1.6 120 hp engine it's not economical but when compared to my brother in laws 1 year old Vauxhall Zafira 1.8 which gets 34mpg it's not bad. Other competition, the Much lighter XC90 - it gets in the real world less than 35mpg. My 2010 currently reads 29.something mpg. The new one is going to be lower until it loosens up but i expect to get more than my old one. If it doesn't the wife is not going to be impressed!
The handling. He banged on about it rolling. Again looking at my 2010 car I think it does pretty well. I follow general traffic speeds on the road and dont feel like I'm going to fall over. I again expect the new car to be a bit taughter. If without the wife and kids then I can failry make the disco travel and it handles it all well. What does he expect from such a big car. He refers to a seat a couple of times. Perhaps he has got a little too used to VAG over damping before experiencing the land rover.
Rant over - perhaps just getting the jitters after signing the papers!

What else could we possibly expect from a man who admits he has a SEAT Alhambra 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

To summarise the article: big, hugely capable 4x4 is not a car and isn't as up to date as the newest version of another vehicle. And he gets paid for this? Sheesh!Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

Agreed.
He mentions his own (deeply embarrassing) choice of car too often to be taken seriously. The verdict - it's not as good at being a Seat Alhambra as his Seat Alhambra is. Thank God for that! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

I have an admission. I have actually been through this Alhambra crisis..
I have spent the past two months trying to decide what to replace my discovery with. Audi A6 estate, Ford Smax, VW sharan, Citreon Grand Picasso, SEAT ALHAMBRA.... in fact it was quite near the top of the list, Sliding doors would be great for the kids. My mrs uses the discovery much more than i do so it made sense. BUT when I did drive the discovery i kept thinking why change it. So a journey with a colleague revealed he was in a similar situation trying to figure out what to replace discovery with. There was only one conclusion - A newer discovery loaded with toys under warranty being sold by land rover offering deals trying to get rid of their current stock. Literally 5 days later - paper signed! Apart from this article I have since delete all trace of said cars from mind and all electronic devices!

Also got his figures wrong - according to Land Rover, the Disco has 600Nm of torque which is 442lbft, not 512lbft.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk
