Have been having starting problems for about 6 weeks now.
Lock, unlock and some patience mostly did the trick. About 4 weeks ago I accidently visited the stealer, when I tried to take of the car wouldn't start.
The diagnosed it as faulty EGR's. Replaced them and for a short period of time it looked fine but then it started again. Up to a point where it wouldn't start no matter how much patience I had.
I know that a weak battery causes weird symptons so I thought to put the battery on the charger for a while. Bingo, I thought, car started right away. Later that same day some problem, used jumper cables and the car started right away. Yesterday I bought a new battery and all was fine. Till this morning, same troubles.
Got it going eventually but the engine sounded like an old diesel tractor and I could see large black clouds coming from my tail.
Any ideas on what the h l is going on? CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

Surely any faults should have been detected by the diagnostics when the stealers changed your EGRs ?

ADE - EGR's were not causing these symptons in my case. Fautly EGR's can be the cause of many issues but not starting in't one of them. If your car has difficulties starting I wouldn't rely on the EGR fix.
Matty - Nothing diagnosed besides faulty EGR's last time.
Got the D3 on a lorry this afternoon to head to the stealer. I told the stealer that they replaced the EGR at €750 to cure to starting poblems and did not solve this issue. Will probably hear more tomorrow. CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

UPDATE - Nightmare approaching |
|
Stealer diagnosed a fault on all 6 injectors. They are now waiting for compression measuring equipment from LR to check the engine itself to see if there is additional damage........
This has the potential of getting a nightmare CLUB ILLEGAL CAR WASHERS

Renton when your motor would not start, would it not turn over either?
My 2007 D3 is doing just that, go to start it nothing, all the lights work, pre-heater goes out turn again and nothing.
After five attempts I called the AA. He looked at me blank, I made a coffee for the chap in Yellow and it was running when I walked back. What did he do, nothing just tried again. Wow let off there I thought.
It's due for another service in a week so I'll let the stealer look at it, but same thing tonight (but it is cold). Had to use the misses Ford Focus
I can not see it being EGR either cause it is not turning over. Cheers,
Simon

Had the AA out today, all the electrics look fine, small tap of the starter and it coughed into life.
Drove to the Stealer for to be checked and change the starter under warranty....
Got a Nissan from the AA for 3 days so I can't complain. The boys in Yellow do a great job, god it was cold out there.
Don't suppose the Stealer was too happy with the AA van on there forecourt! Cheers,
Simon
