Thanks for all the replies and advice. Going to look at some storage facilities tomorrow just to make sure we have somewhere to keep the new van. Going to a few dealers in a couple of weeks. So now you have shared your advice how about sharing some photos of you're set ups..
Thanks again

Caravan all year round. Winters great, toasty inside, freezing out, sites are empty.
Great time to buy - NEC show just finished so dealers will be quiet heading into winter.
First Xmas we went away we had to dig our way onto the pitch through the snow. Epic.
Yes we are away between Christmas and New Year also off to Devon with the kids tomorrow morning, wife staying at home to work..... meeting up with other forum members should be good.

In our starter pack we got the 40ltr aquaroll, waste water collector on wheels, pump hose and filter, toilet fluids one for collector and one for cistern, small water carrier, and the flexi waste pipe .
Our van came with the option to use an internal cold water tanks so it doesnt freeze up in winter, and its just a matter of flicking a switch to swap between the internal and external, i think most vans will have these as its a very good idea.
I found the starter pack very good as i didnt have a clue what i needed.
You will really enjoy the shops at glossop as they have a full awning section with many displays
Thanks for that.
Also not sure on what you need and what you get. Hopefully a used van will come with everything we need but the starter pack sounds great. On call this weekend and going camping next weekend so no time to get out there and look. Hopefully will have one soon and get a trip or two in before Christmas. Have camped in the snow before today so a caravan should be like a 5 star hotel

We have brought our last 4 caravans from Campbells in Preston. They have always come up with the best P/ex price and the best price for the new van. Their service is not the best but you can live with this when you are saving £K'S for servicing we use Caravan Tech on the A21 they are very very good.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Not towed with the d3 yet andy bt will be doing this coming tuesday, looking forward to it, the freelander was a very good tow vehicle jst lacked power for the hills and overtaking but i was never in a rush so didnt matter, i will let you know how i go on.
When looking at caravans just remember people are in and out of them all day trying things out like setting the beds up etc(we did this) so dont exspect them to be sparkling untill you pick it up
we also spent weeks contemplating it and then 7 hours of walking round glossop caravans before swmbo made her mind up.

Know what your taking about regarding SWMBO making her mind up
Had an 06 Freelander 5 door before the D3. FL was a great car but the trade up to a D3 is amazing. Enjoy.

Regarding caravaning in the winter. We're off to Grantown on Spey in the Cairgorms in the morning and it's been snowing today and -5 forecast tonight but van very cosy just leave the electric heating on low all night plus a bit of malt internal heating!I'm to old to know everything......
D4 Gone over to the Dark Side (D5)
D3 gone ...... But now want one for knocking about! Is this a form of insanity?

Thought I wanted a Bailley until I saw the Hobby. Probably just a bit to big for our needs and don't think SWMBO could live with the shower/toilet set up. But they are the best looking vans I've seen. Also quite like the Hymmer ones. Oh well back to the Internet. Would like to go and see a Hobby if I could find one near though.

Hobby importer is a couple of miles away from me, they look great but not wishing to offend anyone but read somewhere that some sites won't allow Hobby vans as they are favoured by pikeys, still not sure how accurate this info is just what I have heard, don't shoot the messenger.Displaced Yorkshireman.

SDV6 Auto obviously, Loire blue/Ebony, ugly kid glass, RLD wheel protector, private plate and maybe side steps.

We have been on a few sites that won't take Hobby's, have a Knauss 560 superb van very well fitted out only downside is the weight 1,800Kgs, needs a power mover to move it but can certainly reccomend it for build quality
