Okay. I've been looking on the website at caravans. Sorry!
What I would appreciate is knowing the who's who. IE who is a Land Rover and who is a Jap mobile.
Can someone in the know put some order into my random searches?

I guess you want to know which are OK and which are better.
You won't go far wrong with Swift or Bailey. Abbey OK too. Vanroyce are a bit posher and nicely made but pricey and heavy.
Whatever you do though, don't go to that place near the Soverign - bunch of crooks in my opinion

Simong, it all comes down to budget. My advice is to first try caravanning for a holiday, you can hire them. Then decide what budget you have and then what layout suits you, finally pick the manufacturer.
What suits one person doesn't suit another. Also be aware, most manufacturers won't transfer warranties and often the servicing can only be done at the dealer you bought it from.
I borrowed a van for a week to see if we liked it, then purchased a dealer special (Abbey Expression) new for about £11K then after 2 years decided what we really needed and traded it in for £9K against a new Fleetwood Heritage. Normally you would loose more than a few £K in a short time but as the new one was a much more expensive van we did ok.
The more time you spend looking and comparing and trying different layouts, the more likley you are to get it right.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

well to be 100% honest in my opinion the best constructed vans have got to be the german vans like hymer geist burnster etc etc
the interior finish has to go to the bristish van like in depth of foam curtains etc etc
Keep things simple that's what I say like onboard water tanks are a pain in the @rse. Just depends on what you want to compromise on.
for me I would tend to go for construction.

Don't disregard the so called budget models. The difference in some of the manufacturer's ranges between what is budget and what is the next level up can be a cd palyer and microwave!
We have a "budget" Sprite Quattro and it doesn't look or feel very different to the same layout in the rest of the Swift range.
I was just trying to find out what makes are perceived to be better than others- all down to opinion really. Which is what some have given so thanks for that.
That was indeed my Elise at Elvington.

You'll find layout will drive your decision more than brand, for us it was alde heating so that reduced it to 3 makes. It is true though that the difference between a Bessacar and an Abbey Vogue is not that much, but the price difference is.DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Get an Abbey Spectrum - you got the "monster" of 4x4 so might as well get the caravan to match!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CARAVAN
We have an Elldis Crusader Super Scirroco. At first we thought the L Shaped lounge was the one to have, but after use we do not like it and want the two bench seat lounge. Looked at the new Crusader Cyclone yesterday and that is the one to have.
