Cardboard shortage amazons fault |
|
Well was talking to a customer this week a great artist and they couldn’t get cardboard to send finished canvases in until yesterday because of a shortage because of Amazon that just shows the impact down to the nitty gritty.

That is just Amazon trying to force them to send their stuff via Amazon. Plenty cardboard then, I'll bet. A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Funny enough the Printer who does my stationary brought me some Invoice books that were wrapped in paper, They are usually boxed.
When I joked about them being a Christmas present he said his supplier could not supply boxes due to Amazon causing Industry cardboard shortages.

Some of the stuff we’ve had in ‘oversized’ boxes is ridiculous, no wonder there’s a shortage
Surprised you’ve not been censured and keyboard warriors not on your back with use of ‘racial connotation’ words there Stew

Every day is a school day - I wasn't aware of that connotation. I'll need to use alternatives, such as getting down to the "fundamental issue", being careful of course not to misspell that as the "fundament issue", which would open up a (w)hole new matter to be offended about. Well I didn’t know I’m only 55 just googled
According to the Cambridge Dictionary, 'nitty gritty' now refers to “the basic facts of a situation”. But it is believed the phrase once had less palatable connotations, with many considering the term to have roots to be in the slave trade – its use is already banned in institutions like the police force.2 Jul 2020 -------------------------------------------------

But it seems there is no money in recycling cardboard now, for years our cardboard bin at work was rental only, no charge for emptying it, as from 1st Jan, rental has gone up, a charge now to empty it, and the charge goes up depending on the weight of it, the more you recycle the more it costs.

“There is no evidence to support the suggestion that 'nitty-gritty' has any connection with slave ships. It may have originated in the USA as an African-American expression, but that's as near as it gets to slavery. It isn't even recorded in print until the 1930s, long after slave ships had disappeared, and none of the early references make any link to slavery.”

^^^^^ exactly that. The words ‘nitty gritty’ are a common parlance at work in respect of ‘getting to the relevant facts’ basically

Hadn't realised there was a shortage.
Thankfully no.1 son has about 6 months supply of packaging in stock.
Not to do with Amazon or Brexit, he just had to get £17k worth to get a decent unit price. Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

£70 per ton, last time I checked...
Weve always had to pay for our cardboard recycling, £9 a fortnight. And we always seem to have loads of the stuff My D3 Build Thread

You might like to see www.news25.org/the-millions-made-from-cardboard-theft.
Originally from the BBC.
Edit This link does not seem to go directly to the right item but if you search for cardboard theft on the News24 site you get there.

John Lewis make upwards of £500,000/year from "graciously" removing the packaging from you when you have stuff delivered.
