No, MY13 to MY16 only. From the Naviplus website “Land Rover Discovery 4 from 2012 (MY13) to 2016, with IAM2 audio setup”

I found that using the AUX for Audio generated some alternator type interference. I would address this if this was the only means of routing the sound but the phone still pairs with bluetooth for music (and calls too) so I get the CarPlay interface and a solid audio output.

Aeromac-

I've installed the same system and running the audio through my AUX input. I too have noticed some alternator interference noise, not to mention the inherently low volume of the Land Rover's AUX input. How do you connect via bluetooth to the audio and still use Carplay?

I am using it too but don't use the AUX, I just use the bluetooth streaming when using the car play audio stuff. So can use Google Maps / Waze for NAV while listening to whatever, then when I want Podcasts or other media from phone, I select it under My Music then select the CARPLAY

So for those who have installed - do you think this is worth it?

I enjoy it, it is a novelty though.

However, many of the D4s in Ireland do not have NAV, so it is good to have it on the main screen rather than just the phone.

If you have an apple phone, it does not provide anything new but just better (bit like all of Apple's offerings really!).

I personally think its great! And I'm glad I did it. It makes my music, podcast, messaging and phone call usage in the Land Rover a MUCH better experience. Its responsive and forces me to use voice to control everything (all of the normal Carplay functions that you expect).

The interface is bounds better than native Land Rover interface IMHO.

As Dave has done, my phone is already paired via Bluetooth.
When I hook it up to CarPlay with the USB connector, the audio automatically defaults to AUX.
I then Just scroll through the media sources (with the Mode button on the RHS of the audio control panel) until Bluetooth is selected as the Audio source.
So I’ve the Bluetooth audio with CarPlay displayed on the screen, The added bonus is that the phone works with the factory equipment but with the CarPlay visuals.

@tomsquad419...it’s an expensive outlay for a small improvement on what we already have.
I find there are some compromises in terms of the visual quality compared to a factory install, (I suspect that’is down to the screen itself rather than the CarPlay equipment), Think more 720p rather than 4K!!
It can make google maps difficult to make out in night mode..but despite this for myself, it was still worth it and if my replacement car is without CarPlay I’d fit it again...

So can you use carplay wirelessly?

Does the phone and carplay only work in Bluetooth mode?

If I want to use carplay (like in most other cars) where is just plug my iPhone into the cord, does it work as it should? Music, phone, maps all on the one interface weather it be the USB selection, Aux, ect.

I have a 2012 with bluetooth now and that how I play most of my music and get all of my calls unless I am listening to the radio or something, but then my phone still works.

Thanks

I'm not 100% sure they are compatible with the 2012 system, I'd check before committing. In answer...

It's wired only unfortunately.

No, once connected with the lightning connector the system is intended to work through the USB.
So the audio is channeled through the AUX and the inputs are controlled with the Disco touch screen. It's just that I found on my car, there was a noticeable alternator whine. So I use BT for the Audio, whilst retaining the CarPlay visual and touch control.

It works exactly as a factory fitted system (I have it in a BMW too)

2013-2016 only. 2012 is the old system like I have and you can’t do it.

Has anybody used this bluetooth Reftofit Kit?

In doing my research to try to figure out how to make a Bluetooth work with my iPhone x through my nav screen I ended up searching this unit out on Amazon a bit pricey at $996.00 USD + shipping.

EuroActive Land Rover Brand LR2 Freelander 2 Genuine OEM Bluetooth Telephone Retrofit Kit. at Amazon.
Has anybody had any success with this retrofit??

I have tried to fit 2 different D4 modules and the static on the phone was literally off the hook unusable.
I have powered the D4 module 2 separate ways.
1] splicing in power from the Sirus module to pin 15 and 33-34
2] taping into the old D3 power harness as outlined by Wiggs. Using PIN 33 or 34 on the D3 Mod (GROUND ) to socket 15 on D4. Using pin16 on D3 mod to connector pin 31 on the D4

Any assistance with the static problem using the phone with a D4 module would be greatly appreciated, I see it might be coming from the alternator type interference as mentioned above but do not know how to remedy the problem...

My mechanic said today for me to check the antenna for the static interference while using the phone, I am at a loss as to where to look or troubleshoot this possible solution, and assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Just to chime in as it may be useful to other members.
I threw caution to the wind and ordered this just before Christmas.
I was working away for the season and on my day off my mate and I fitted it.
First issue we had was the programmer buttons had a dead connection.
The hairlike wires had not had the insulation trimmed back so there was no signal on the black wire.
With a lot of swearing and using the iphone camera zoomed in as a microscope we trimmed back the insulation and managed to bridge the pin to the copper inner. After that it worked a treat.
In all it took us 5 hours over two days to fit. The first day was spent test fitting and finding the programming issue. The second day we spent about 2 hours trying to find a gap big enough to locate the boxes. We ended up putting them below the passenger side air vent to the left of the glove box. Cables run across nicely and the boxes fit in the gap where the cupholder is on the Disco3.
Need to revisit it to make a bracket up or pad it with foam but working for now!!

My Disco is one of the early SDV6 with teh 8 speed rotary gearbox. Its registered on a 2011 plate but has the IAM2. The carplay adapter plugs in with no issues and is currently running with a cable fed to the rear aux in with no issues.
The latest version has the option to add wireless connection so currently my iphone sits in a wireless charging cradle, (charging) and connects to the carplay adapter wirelessly with no issues.
All working.
Nav, phone, messenger, whatsapp etc. Plays my mp3's with no issue.

Cons:
Price. Its a bit steep but I did take advantage of the black Friday deals.
Aux volume level is a bit lower but you just turn it up and it sounds fine to me, (I am no audiophile)
Touchscreen is horrible for scrolling / swiping. This is a Landrover issue. if I could replace it with a decent one I would in a heartbeat!!!!
You have to strip out a lot of dash to get it fitted!!

So far its done a 5 hour drive from Plymouth with no issues and a return trip to Brighton.

Do I like it?....................................YES!!
Would I revert to the old system?..........................NOOOOO!!!!!!

You access CarPlay by pressing the NAV option. If you have the factory Nav you loose this (there is a way around this but) as I hadn't NAV, it wasn't a concern.

I'd like to be able to switch between the factory nav and CarPlay as I'm often in areas with no mobile coverage and cannot download Apple or Google maps. Does anyone know how this is possible?
