What cars use the V6?

Hi all

Could not think how to word a search.........

I have a cunning plan. I want to change my own timing chains and other involved bits on my own D4. My plan is to practice/dick around on another engine and so therefore not mess up my own. What cars were built with the V6 diesel? They will be cheaper to buy than a D3 and will fit in my garage.

Citroen C6 and Jaguar XJ are two that spring to mind.

LR versions have baffling to stop oil starvation when driving at steep angles off road.

I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Razz Luxury idea

Do you mean belt or chains in head?

The XF and facelift RRS are the only onnes with 3.0 if that is what you have.
and XJ x351 but they are at least £6K

How about have a go at yours, and should you mess it up, you then buy one of the above for its engine.

The French ones will be a nightmare to do the front belt I would guess as the transverse engine
On the plus side the fuel belt would be easy ?

In my minds eye I saw a RWD set up. A transverse V6? Christ on a bike.......

Everyday a school day. Who makes a transverse V6 and can sleep at night? Gents, I should have said who makes a RWD with the V6?

Transverse v6 more common than you think.

2.5 litre was done in rover 75 and 45, Vauxhall cavalier & calibra.
Cooling and spark plug changing can get involved.

A Renault Clio v6 was made ?!
A golf vr6

Once you get involved with serious engine work on your LR you will wish you had one of the above Laughing

Thankfully back to 4 cyl engines in small cars these days.

Isn’t it more economical to pay a garage to do it ? Rather than buy a spare car ?
You must really like getting your hands dirty Laughing

Lancia Stratos Whistle

Ok, not exactly "common", but I just nipped down a rabbit hole of automotive porn and childhood bedroom posters.

Off Topic

NoDo$h- Thanks for jogging my memory. I saw Stratos's competing in the Lombard RAC Rally when I was young and my eldest brother was an amateur driver. I've never forgotten the sound!

I've read that they are every bit as tricky to "rally" as the 911 is, due to their short wheelbase. Terrifying!
