Cast iron weights?

Poking around underneath the back of the car and found two big, heavy what appears to be iron weights. They are fixed but can pivot. They sit on the chassis just behind the rear bumper.

Dumb question maybe, what what are they for?

Thanks

Andy (new owner!)

Not new....

Various other land rovers have had odd bits of iron bolted or loosely attached to counter some NVH (noise / vibration / harshness) aspect of the vehicle. Series one Discos had a big bit bolted to the transmission with what appeared to original mini exhaust silencer rubber bolty things (mine detached at one point)...it made quite a difference without it.

sorry original post have bad spellings !
