Even TFM goes on about DPF but I don’t have one.... so confused!
Even looked through the old service history for any details of oil used, but it’s all just generic..2010 Disco 4 HSE

A5 (petrol), B5 DIESEL
The B5 on the back of the can would be enough for me to put that in a non-DPF engine requiring a B5 oil (or other B rated).
This detail is from the link below.
The A/B class's A5/B5 oils have lower HTHS viscosities, which means that they provide better fuel economy but they may not provide adequate protection in engines that are not designed for them. ACEA A3/B3 and A3/B4 on the other hand require oils with higher HTHS viscosities that may not provide as good fuel economy as an A5/B5 oil but may offer better engine protection in certain engine designs.

Most appear to be spec'd for both, so likely not.
The link and detailed paragraphs explain all.
Best advice would be to read the detailed list on the can, and make sure that you know what your engine requires.
Having searched the forum for a definitive list for the engines fitted in D3 and D4 ( not that many ), it's shouldn't be difficult to come up with a shortlist, Diesels only tho'.
Specifications not brands.
D3 : TDV6
Cat or No Cat
5/30 B5
WSS-M2C913-C, WSS-M2C913-B, WSS-M2C913-A; Jaguar Land Rover STJLR 03.5003; ACEA B5; API SL CF
D4: TDV6
Cat and NO DPF 5/30 B5
WSS-M2C913-C, WSS-M2C913-B, WSS-M2C913-A; Jaguar Land Rover STJLR 03.5003; ACEA B5; API SL CF
SDV6 (did they all have a DPF?)
Cat with DPF 5/30 C1
JAGUAR LANDROVER STJR.03.5005; FORD WSS-M2C934-B; ACEA C1
Or Non-DPF 5/30 B5
Having searched the well known brands product guides for D3 / D4, the bottom line is that 5/30 grade is the oil.
B5 for non DPF models
C1 for those with DPF
If anyone knows any different, copy/paste and amend so it reads more easily.. 2011 MY D4 HSE
Previously 2001 D2 TD5, 1996 D1 300Tdi, 1985 90 2.2 petrol.

Just filled my boot(s) at Seaton (Devon holiday). Loads of all 3. Next service sorted. Should I go back for more?
Good because thats what I bought The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.
