Hi all,
Just purchased a D4 previous cat d in 2017, hse in the lovely grey, 2010 car.
Supposedly had vandal damage so cosmetic.
Seller is saying I can retrieve service history book through previous insurer but not so sure..
I paid a very good price so have booked it in with a local specialist for oil and filter and a good going over to make sure all is well, it’s only done 86,000 miles and it’s passed all previous mot’s and all mileage data is correct.
Problems so far are a soaking wet passenger side floor after the recent downpours, alarm has gone off twice on its own which is annoying so need to sort this asap.
Other than that we love it and goes very well, lockdown works fine and no lights errors on the dash.
We had a d3 a few years back as we wanted to try caravaning with the two kids so hopefully if this one checks out I will keep it.
Can I approach a main dealer to check for history if the service book doesn’t surface? And any help on the leak and alarm problems would be great
TIA

One of the most likely reasons for water there are sunroof drains assuming you have a sunroof. Relatively easy fix. There are other ways of having it happen too, water ingress through behind the A pillar but it should usually show up then also on the inside of the A pillar.
The alarm going off is usually the hood latch. Easy to fix.

Wet footwell is sun roof drainage pipes and I’d guess that the water maybe causing the alarm
Look on here for it plenty of threads Metal auto sump & fluid change (3 hrs)
LR door puddle projectors (10 mins)
Tinted Bonnet wind deflector (10 mins)
All Intercooler pipes and Tbolts (2hrs)
3 injectors replaced so far (30mins)
Sunroof drain pipes both sides 2.5 hrs)
Rear discs, shoes, pads, callipers, flexi hoses, rigid brake line, n/s upper hub carrier bush and rear n/s upper arm (13hrs over 2 days)

Thanks for the help so far, appreciated.
Funny you should say bonnet latch as the passenger side latch has more play than the other side, when the bonnets closed you can fit the right side slightly more than the other?
And so to test the drain pipes I just fill up the sunroof recess with water and I should see water coming down by the wing or out of the side vents? Also the headlining was damp above the windscreen on the same side of the leak.
It’s a lovely truck and can see why they are so popular, love driving it

have you tried the online service history website? All you need is the VIN - your car might be a bit old for it though. Worth a try.

Belts don't need doing until 105k service, assuming Speedo is correct.
Service history can be Checked online from April 2014 if they have been done by a main dealer.
All Mots can now be Checked online.
I would have done all this before parting with any money. It can when others can't,

It’s not a matter of being to late, it’s not being possible to edit a post when using the mobile app after wrongly speed reading the OP and thinking he had purchased a two year old vehicle. It can when others can't,

Had a good day, sorted the passenger water leak, managed to get the side vent off using a behind the wing method rather then the yank job.
Found the end of the sunroof tube and shoved a brake cable up there which did the trick, flood of water out down the side of the chassis leg which was holding in the sunroof cartridge, glad that’s sorted!
