Crikey you were doing 45 mph, if the other car was doing the same, that’s a 90mph collision. I’m not surprised the other car took to the air.

Was that an unrestricted road?

She took 100%. She was very embarrassed and shocked, said she was fiddling with the radio.

She also mentioned it to the police who turned up to direct traffic around us. Police officer mentioned this as he said people often remember differently the next day and I could use his notes if required. I think the dashcam takes most of those arguments away and have now fitted one to each of the family's cars.

As I said, before this I was considering an i3 as a runaround, but they have made it so lightweight (with good reason) that I was nervous how it would fare in any encounter with a 4x4/SUV type vehicle. Having said that, my Volvo weighs 1 tonne less than the D4, so it does stop quicker - would have probably stopped in time to avoid this one.

Yes, unrestricted road. I had slowed down quite a bit from 45 by the time of impact (I guess around 30), GPS has a delay as it slows down. It is still showing 29 as I am stationary after impact. I don't think she braked at all.

Still quite a bump though. I was surprised the D4 airbags didn't go off, but no whiplash or sore shoulders or anything for me, so I guess I was quite protected. Her car probably weighed about a third of the D4 and as I was already braking heavily it somehow felt more connected to the ground rather than flying along over it (not sure if that actually makes sense).

I recorded this last year, on a Go-Pro before I got the NextBase. I forgot I had it.

It misses the arrival of the car, but watch the rest of the poor parking!

Tonight at 1830hrs - 50 seconds into the video, a van pulls out into my path. Its getting all too normal these days for people to do that. Rolling Eyes

He decisively just got on with it and pulled out. I'd have thought you'd want that. Rolling with laughter

Sorry, couldn't resist a brexit-related joke. Embarassed

I'm with you, however, on the number of people who just go and expect everyone else to sort it out around them. That and the "I'm indicating and moving in to your lane three yards in front of you" types, who just expect you to brake and make space etc. Often done by people in van-cars (Transits etc kitted out/used as cars rather than vans) it seems.

Laughing Thumbs Up

The muppet actually made three lanes on the approach to the roundabout where only two existed and then could clearly see me before pulling out! The vehicle was from a firm in Nottingham, so just visiting I think.

You are right, it’s becoming a normal practice to pull out in front of people. That’s mainly why I got the Blackvue.

Accident :-(

My wife is not going to be a happy bunny. Set off to buy some fuel and a chap in a Fiesta decided to use the lane marked for turning right to overtake me as I turned right - hitting SWMBO's car and damaging the bumper and wheelarch trim.

Start off in the correct lane and the markings guide you through without crossing any lane markings.

The real bummer is that I'd just spent an hour polishing it.

"I'm not paying that! I can make one for less than that..."
Usually not a true statement.
