CB setup for green lanes and convoys

Hi all, looking forward to getting on some green lane routes over the coming months now travel restrictions are going.
I’m looking at CB’s for comms but need to be cheap as it won’t be used much and don’t trust used due to the tamperers, crt seems to have a good reputation, anyone use one? Found this setup with a 1m antenna, will transfer to bolted mount rather than mag but any thoughts?

Hi,
used to use CB's (some years back) for laning but more recently used PMR radios,
even more so now we just use them for convoy trips out if we are away with tintent
(not a tintent convoy but for while we are at camp Rolling Eyes )

just a thought

Thumbs Up

Handheld is a useful idea as can be used out of the car when laning for spotting you don't need a great range either

Thanks guys, I have been keeping an eye out for something like a midland 42, best of both worlds but their just above my “hide from SWMBO” budget. PMRs work on separate freq from CBs so probably don’t want to go down that road as the people I’m hoping travel with would be changing each trip so need something that’s most common, looking on the threads, most have kept to the traditional cb?

Not the cheapest unit available but I went for the CRT Mike (https://www.kcb.co.uk/contents/en-uk/p1736_CRT_MIKE.html).

Been happy with it so far and like that all the controls are on the handset.

The unit itself is on the drivers B pillar down the side of the drivers seat, taking power off the amp under the seat. Nicely tucked away there but still easy access.

Antenna is mounted in place of the sat nav shark fin as dont use it.
