Centre Arm Rest Glove Box installation of Midland Multi 78

Hi all. Well the Midland arrived and is compact enough to be fitted into the glove box, I don't really use the box anyway so no space lost. To enable a top install I was wondering whether the inner part of the box could be removed, it seems to just be a moulded bucket with no fixings, and suspect there are a few hidden screws around somewhere. I did do a few small tugs on the inner box but nowt moved, and dont want to break it.

Any iteas???????

I would of thought its the same as the cool box .

Remove the torx screw holding the EPB ..remove gearstick ( pull upwards hard ---auto has to be in P)

Lift the whole top of the center consul ..disconnect TR plugs .

Remove the top of the armrest ( 2 x torx screws holding the hinge's at the back)

Then a couple more torx screws at the side near the top of the box ..thats it

If you want some detailed pics etc ..pm me with an email and i will forward them on

Just thought I would show off the finished Install, I bought the centre cubby box internal tray off Ebay, only a tenner Laughing , and I cut the Midland size hole out of it. I did try velcro but was'nt that great, and doing this is so much more neater.

The tray has enough room for the mike attached and enough room to close the lid, all power cables and ariel run out through the bottom of the cubby box.

So yet another HSE mod chapter closed Thumbs Up

Cheers Ian & SJR, I am chuffed with it too, the tray lifts out gaining access to underneath, and I have an external speaker now fitted into the air vent nearest the driver by the SatNAv screen.

CB install finished
Thumbs Up

8) Cool install. If I can get one of those trays I may make mine a more permanent install.

Next is the Expo roof rack, with some cool orange LED's on them. Got to pick up a new rack from The Large One soon. Then its POWDER COATING the Alloys to a darker colour and after that MTR's

The that is it, finished - Unless Uncle Ray sorts me out with the full underbody protection Thumbs Up

Bodsy, the coolbox is removed mate, not sure whether to get rid of it or keep it to be honest. I wanted the CB in there cos although you can stuff the CB between the seat and cubby box, but as mine is Leather I decided keep the seats in tiptop condition

Looks very neat Thumbs Up

I have a couple of questions that might benefit others wanting to consider a similar set-up Mac Whistle

What happens when you want to adjust the rig en-route ie channels.. volume etc?

Does the lid close easily with the Mic attached to the rig ?

Flinty, the tray was on ebay, 1st one I have ever seen and knew that was what would do the trick, I guess Nick - The Large One can get you one as its a LR part. Thumbs Up

MacLeod if its easy enough to remove the tray again can you get the part number for me. That way there is no confusion when I PM Nick.

Cheers.
