Just had a P2290 fault code and want to change my fuel filter as a precaution. Can anyone tell me what is invloved or point me to a thread that helps?
Thanks Volvo XC60 - does all that the D4 should have done

P2290 is a low fuel pressure fault. On an 07MY>onwards, it is usually accompanied by 'engine sytem fault, suspension faults and lowering, and also autobox faults
Anyway, as for changing the filter, surely as yours is an 08MY, it should be covered under warranty? Remember it gets changed every 30k, so if it has just had a 30k or 60k etc service, it should have been changed...
If you really want to change it yourself, remove the gearbox undertray, and the heat shield bolted to the drivers side rear of that space, will reveal the fuel filter. Unplug the water sensor, and turn the filter anti-clockwise until it stops, and pull downwards to remove the filter
Remember when refitting to turn it (clockwise, obviously) until it stops and cant be turned anymore My D3 Build Thread

Nice try, but thats the wrong style of fuel filter. That link is for the early type, pre 07MY... 07MY>onwards is a totally different style My D3 Build Thread

Thanks guys, I had not realised it was so invlolved.
The car has done 33k and is in warranty until June. I am off to the alps next Thursday and doubt if the stealer can do anything before then. The problem (transmission fault, hdc off, susp lowered etc) has only happened once and the fault codes were clear before the incident. I am hoping it is just an electrical transient. The susp. lowered and transmission fault is because of the P2290 fault code.
It really isnt involved at all, would probably take you less than 1/2 an hour if you have never done one before My D3 Build Thread

Hi Guys,
Got a replacement fuel filter from local parts store and when I went to look for it under the car, I couldn't find a matching filter. Now thinking I must have the later filter (part I was given in store was same as the one shown in the link). Anyone got a part number or photo of the later filter? Closest thing I could find for to a fuel filter (under driver's seat & with 4 connections) was something that looked more like a large Sardine can than a canister!
