Changed front pads & fluid - 1 week later light comes on??
Hi all,
The brake light came on my D3. Checked the front pads and they were worn down to the minimum and had broken the wire indicator tripping the warning light. I replaced the pads and the wire and at the same time changed the brake fluid as it hadn't been done for a few years. The warning light was gone. Good pedal after bleeding. All good - or so I thought.
Of course tomorrow morning I have a long drive ahead with the family and tonight the brake light is on again. Although I've only inspected visually, the front pads are fine and the brake fluid level is right up at the max. The rear pads have a ton of wear left. The new sensor on the front is...new.
Before I undo the sensors I wanted to ask if I'm missing anything? What could the cause be? All parts are OEM and I'm reasonably sure I know what I'm doing when it comes to looking after this thing.
Grateful for any thoughts. Thanks. PAGODA

Check the rear offside inner pads again, check the front sensor cable connection.
The sensor cable can be disabled or tested by stripping the old cable and twisting the bare wires together. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Could be a poor connection in the sensor wire plug. The sensor wire completes a circuit to keep the light off, any break or poor connection will put the light on.Richard

Utter idiocy.
Finally pulled the front LHS wheel off to check. The new sensor cable was worn through to the wire. It seems I’d miss-routed it and it was rubbing against the tire, wearing it through. So, the morale of the story is, check the routing properly when replacing the sensor.PAGODA
