Changing brake pads and discs question |
|
Hi all. I am going to replace front and rear discs and pads plus parking brake shoes. Question is can I do all this without a Gap or equivalent tool. Thanks in advance

You can do it without a tool.
Download "Bodsy's Brake Bible Version 1.6a - LATEST VERSION".

Everything in the bible will guide you through it.

You can do it without IID or similar for bleeding as long as as you don’t let the fluid level in the tank go too low so air enters the brake system from above. So top up often. Easier when two persons are doing it.

He is changing the discs, pads and shoes not the fluid, more likely to overflow the brake reservoir when he pushes the pistons back than causing an air lock.
If the fluid level is high before you start put some rags under the reservoir to catch any possible spillage, BRAKE FLUID IS AN EXCELLENT PAINT STRIPPER! It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Better to put a transparent tube, ideally one fitted with a non return valve, on the caliper bleed nipple and then open the nipple.
Forcing brake fluid back to the cylinder risks turning the piston seal inside out with a subsequent loss of brake function.
