+1 Although I do bungee a number plate on too. (Standard ping in your face bungee and 2 holes drilled in number plate). Don't think it obscures the lights too much. Would have to be a real jobs worth PC to consider otherwise.  Rich

I've actually been looking around a bit and checked the usual solutions before I built mine. There are a few reasons why I did not like what was on offer, which I felt this design (for which I can't take credit btw) addresses.
- does nto add to the car height which at 2 meters is anyway a challenge in some car parks
- it's easy & quick to mount & unmount the bikes; you don't have to be 7 foot tall and built like a body builder to lift the bikes up or risk damaging the bodywork
- it's easy to attach & detach; take out the spline through the hitch and you are done
- light & corrosion resistant because it is made from aluminimum with SS bolts
- does not inhibit the door when bikes are off
- bike do not damage the door or bumper (even with wide mtb bars)
- with my bike (dual suspension mtb) I can't use the dangling type carrier; the arms would mess with the rear damper plus I'm not to keen to scratch my carbon frame by using the clamps some of the cheaper carriers have
- easy & cheap to build
- light; I tried the Thule and it's very heavy
- with one bike you can still see the number plate; with two that gets a bit more difficult and probably requires a repeater plate; lights & turn signals are not an issue but may be in some countries; if I ever got in trouble i would pick up a set of trailer lights, stick them to the rear channel & plug them into the trailer coupling
- could be extended to three bikes if necessary but then it would hit the ground frequently when exiting ramps
Cons
- can't open the rear door when bikes are on the carrier
- will scratch the cranks, so if you have flash carbon cranks this might not be for you
- will not work while towing
Anyway, up to you - and the local sheriffs I guess

I comes with everything you need, 13 pin adaptor, securing locks etc, unlike the thule which you have to buy extra.
Another good thing is it folds up on itself very small & goes in a nice little carry bag. Mine lives in the boot folded up and I still have loads of room at the side of the boot devider. d4 HSE in Corris Grey with Black options pack

South coast. Good choice but you need a boat not a bike in that case
