How to check the High pressure fuel pump output

Hi there, hope someone may be able to add some advice...

I'm struggling with a non running Disco 2.7 with a a few fault codes..

P 1623-00 Immobiliser code word/identification number write failure

p 0191-23 Fuel rail pressure sensor range/performance

p0087-72 Fuel Rail system pressure too low

I've checked for pressure from the Low pressure pump and I'm seeing around 6psi...bit lower when cranking..

I'm getting virtually nothing from the fuel rail ...about 18 psi...

I have checked the wiring to the HPFP and seem to be getting 12v to both sensors on the pump...less when cranking...drops to around 2-3 volts..

Questions:

Is the immobiliser code likely to be the route cause..? What does it immobilise?

Is it possible to be the pump itself, despite supposedly being good before...??

Is there a way of checking if the pressure control valve is reducing the flow by that much..?

Is there a way of 'forcing' the valve to see if the pump actually has capacity but is being affected

by the valve...

Really grateful for any assistance/input..

Do a search for Robbies guides, he did one on the pump.

Many thanks,

I saw his guide on the Low pressure pump and followed the instructions...

Did he do one on the High Pressure too...that seems to be where my problems lie...?

Someone has suggested the immobiliser but I thought that as for the starter motor, and given I have voltage to low and high pressure pumps it seems unlikely to be the issue...never say never of course.. Smile

Still trying to work out why I have no HPFP flow...still think it could be the pump itself....however..

I have found this cable disconnected near to the battery...any clues anyone ???

Appreciate any input,

Many thanks in advance..

I'm having a similar issue. My D3 just went Kaputs (Off) in the middle of the Highway while driving. Just wouldn't start afterwards, it cranks (Engine turns) but just wouldn't fire. The symptom suggests to me that I might not be getting any fuel up to the engine. Did you get to resolve this? I'd really appreciate any response.
