Hi there, i'm interested to see what you folks think of this
https://www.theatlantic.com/sexes/archive/...it/265977/
My own opinion is that the world just keeps taking one bizarre turn after another. I can't think what some people think we can gain from the destruction of female & male roles in society.
Note ... i wrote female first so as not to offend the sensitive types

Lot of nonsense, IMO
My 2 year old boy plays with his sisters dolls, and she plays with his cars and trains
Quote:One Swedish school got rid of its toy cars because boys "gender-coded" them and ascribed the cars higher status than other toys.

SWMBO is one of 3 sisters. Between them they have 6 children, 1 imminent, and 1 step child. At time of writing, it is 6 girls and 1 boy. The father of the boy gets really shirty when the boy plays with tea sets and push chairs etc. The boy then gets disruptive and spoils all the games the girls play. When dad isn't around and he left to play whatever he wants, he plays really nicely.
The boy asked for roller skates for his birthday. Some of the girls have them, but the dad said no as they were too girly. They weren't pink, and were actually emblazoned in one of the male marvel hero colours.
Regardless of the above, the dad is a anyway. Including the above, the dad is a double MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

Drag the dad along to a skate(board) park where there are roller skaters too. He'll stop thinking it's a soft sport. My lads did the skateboarding but if they'd asked for skates i'd have tried to talk them out of it. too brutal.

We've got 3 girls. They've asked for stuff. If we can afford it, they got it. Whether it be Nerf guns, dolls, trampoline, x-box.....
It is easy to judge other peoples parenting ways.
What I will say, is that the boy is 7. I have been to all 7 'parties' as has his dad.
The girls is 5. I've been to all 5 'parties', the dad has been to 3. One of them was in their own house, and he stayed upstairs. Didn't even come down to say 'hello' to everyone. MY07 Freelander2 SE Santorini Black - Gone

We’ve got three girls, they’ve all played with cars, helicopters, planes but also with stuffed animals and dolls. Hobbies are football and karate... They don’t (yet?) seem worse off.....
Living in Finland, IMO Sweden is hypersensitive and not all their political correctness is actually useful. As our neighbor, some people would also like to import practices and conventions from there to here. For example, they teach already in daycare here that one is supposed to talk of other people in a gender neutral way rather than “him” or “her”. This idea came from Sweden.
