cigarette ligher / aux power removal
Hello all , Ive had a look but cant find it ,how do you remove the unit that has the ashtray/ cig lighter from the console .I removed the radio , ac unit and the cover underneath it but i cannot seem to see what holds it in.
I was fitting a new car kit and did not find a handy Ign sense wire to use on the radio or climate unit so ive gone to using these.
On a side note the removal of the heater / ac module seems to stop the car working completly!
Wiggs is yr man - search posts or mail him as I can recall seeing pics etc... on this recently.

I wouldnt bother ..its a pain to get out . If you have the radio and ac unit out look down were the ciggy lighter is and follow the cable (purple and black ---purple is live on ignition 1 ) ...join into it further up,
If you do want to remove it properly you need to take the top of the center consul out
It looks like this
The clips top and bottom are angled outwards ..so a real to get out .
I would use the fuse box for some power ..very easy to get a cable down there from behind the radio areaG4 Gone ...but not forgotten

super thanks , i thought i was doing something stupid but it looks like its a to move . I got it out so far and dead stop I found the purple wire but it was seriously hard to get back correctly. I still think it is slightly out from where it was. Its all refitted but i was thiniking of having another go .

You have to take the centre console out:
In park
Remove gear lever by pulling up.
remove torque screw below EPB lever.
