How do you clean the EPB? |
|
My friend has been driving through muddy water and now his EPB doesn't work effectively - no screaming, it just doesn't apply fully.
He'd like to know how to clean it out, or whether he should just head straight for the dealers.
Any advice? Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

ISTR asking about adjusting a long time ago, but really what I, sorry, "he" wanted to do was clean out / check that dirt in the drum wasn't a factor before referring back to dealer.
Is it possible to clean without affecting the adjustment?

He's already had the EPB actuator and two sets of drums and shoes replaced under warranty, and wants to be sure it's nowt to do with mud before being blamed for it. Long succession of Disco's since 2001...

Blame is ...it's not an item which permits user interface ...therefore it can only be a warranty issue 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I also doubt muddy water is affecting it. Its probably just gone out of adjustment.

I agree entirely (DG/ simon) - it had started failing to hold about a week before being immersed, but will now be full of 'dirt'.
I just wondered if it was possible to clean rather than returning to dealer yet again - but I'm judging that to be a "no", return to dealer for more grief

So is it anticipated that the average user would access GTR for this info?? What you are suggesting Bods is that this is a user problem to rectify and not LR's I firmly believe it's LR's 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

I've been in some pretty muddy water recently at Boughrood as well as locally just driving around during all the floods, mine is still holding just fine still.

not at all DG firmly believe it's a lr issue, just if there's a fix that means you don't have to take out a day for a dealer to try to fix it then why not if you can. Bodsys Brake Bible

I'm also sure it's LR's problem, but for my own satisfaction wanted to know what's going on in there, as the dealer hasn't so far been able to fully cure.
It's a long story, that I obviously haven't told all of here.
The strangest part is that my first 2 D3's had zero PB issues, but this one is plagued - despite the whole lot having been replaced twice. My guess is that this time it's no more sinister than needing a little adjustment. What worries me is why it should need it. Long succession of Disco's since 2001...
