Cleaner than a clean thing just after it's been cleaned
A big thank you to all the tips and advice on here. I've agreed a deal on what looks like a beautiful HSE in a private sale. Picking up next week, photos will follow.

Very pleased so far. ONly criticism, and it's not really a moan, is that the D3 felt a bit more "robust". I suppose one often gets this feeling with a sparkly new car but I feel much more reluctant to chuck a load of rubbish in the back of this one. Mind you, it was our intention to go "upmarket" as that increased the motivation for getting a S3/Defender!
The interior is beautiful although much more "Range Rover" than before. I notice in particular the switches for changing the ride height are engineered pretty things rather than chunky paddles you can operate without looking at. So more a luxury car with off road brilliance subtly hidden than an off road vehicle with luxury overtones.
My favourite thing is actually driving it a fairly low speeds where it glides along silently like a limo.
now to sell the D3....

Now I know why I stuck with my D3. Mine looks like that every day it's always covered in mud due to where we live.

I must admit I was happier getting the D3 muddy. I haven't changed my mind from what I posted on 9 April when the D4 was a new toy. It's beautiful to drive but just doesn't quite feel so robust.
I like to think that one can rebutt any "Chelsea Tractor" jibes not only by pointing to the Land Rover heritage but also by believing that a proper LandRover looks better dirty than clean, can be driven in wellies, and can be operated whilst wearing gloves.
The D4 looks nicer clean, the blond carpet didn't really appreciate my muddy boots and you don't need gloves as it has a heated steering wheel..........
