not easy to get in the UK, they also sell it under the VXR brand at some Vauxhall dealers

You could try Mr Muscle Oven cleaner, Volvo dealer in Southport uses it all the time he buy's it in bulk
from cash and carry, spray it on leave it whilst you have a brew, quick scrub round wash off done.
Cheaper than the proper stuff, you can but try it. Thumbs Up

Does oven cleaner not eat the clear coating on the wheels? I have herd of other using it as wheel cleaner but its pretty caustic stuff.

Mr Muscle oven cleaner.... Shocked

Is that why so many volvos have damaged alloys and no lacquer left. Hopefully Volvo will honour the dull and discoloured tarnished finish when the customers complain a year later Whistle

I'm trialing a new wheel cleaner that I'm stocking in the van. I've given some to a forum member to see how he rates it, once I get the feedback then I'll post up.

To remove brake dust, you do need a cleaner thats up to the job. Autoglym acid wheels cleaner is good, but you have to be careful and never allow it to dry in. The acid free wheel clean is also good for regular cleaning. You will also need a good wheel brush to agitate the solution.

I always use Poorboys wheel cleaner....it's very good and doesn't damage the finish of the alloys....

I've tried all sorts of products over the years, but I would rate this one as the best I've used.

Now we just need a site sponsor who sells Poorboys products Whistle Whistle

Simple Green over here in the US - PH Neutral so no finish damage, lots of power to lift the crud.

Not sure if it's made it to the UK yet?

Use a decent wheel brush to really get into the corners - I use the 'Donkey's Knob' brush from Autoglym.

When they are clean - coat with two layers of sealant to help make them easy to keep clean in the future.

I'm with cdodkin on applying a Sealant. However, I just clean the wheels with car wash soap, and not a detergent/wheel cleaner unless I'm reapplying the Sealant. When I'm drying the wheels I use a Spray Wax or Speed Shine to get the inevitable spots I missed and add a layer of protection.
