Cleaning Plastic Wheel Arches/bumpers WD40 yet another use

I am using WD40. The bumpers and arches look fantastic and it cleans all the crap off, give it a quick rub down with those shoe shine sponges and it comes up a treat!
And its cheaper than those cans of bumper shine!!
happy cleaning
bought a 06, TDV6 on 28/08/09 loving every minute of it.. Had TDI & TD5s over the years now nothing compares to this beast.

Agree WD40 smashing for cleaning... but, the residue attracts the dirt real quick and then means more washing more frequent.

The black plastic on my arches looks a bit faded and grey. Does the WD40 or the Nanotec Blackener(which I can't seem to find on google) get rid of that 'greyness' and get them back to black? Smile

Sorry about the lateness of this reply:
For anybody who wishes their bumpers and arches to remain black or to get them back to black from that awful sun bleached grey colour, try AutoGlym Bumper Care. A little goes a long way, lasts well and returns your plastic bits back to their original colour very quickly.
Costs about £7-£8 per bottle from Halfords but should last ages. Razz
Larrup it on, wipe it off, then buff to a shine...........couldn't be easier.

I've used various bumper restore products, currently have some Turtle Wax black in a flash. Used this on the Defender arches, works well. Tesco's bumper restore is cheap and does the job too, comes in a aerosol.

plastic refresh

Hello All if any of you have faded plastic i.e. bumpers wheel arches etc a trade trick is to get a heater gun (paint stripper ) and lightly warm up the plastic but keep the heater gun moving you can see it going back to its natural colour.

We always spray WD all over washed bikes - and I mean all over! Creates a nice film that makes it easier to pressure wash clean when they're covered in mud. Wonder if you could spray the whole of a D3? Whistle
