Hi David,

You are welcome.

Chris,

Got my Last Touch - itching to try it out. Just a couple of questions: How long does a treatment last? Is there protection value in the product? I have used a (supposed!) 10 year acrylic sealer and wondered whether the two products are OK together.

Also, does Last Touch work on plastic (wheel arches etc)?

Finally (for now!) does Last Touch leave a sticky feel?

I know, more than a "couple of questions"!

Hi David,

I have found that Last Touch seems to last a long time, but obviously down to how dirty you will get!!!

Spray it over everything including plastic and windows with NO sitcky feel.

Regards

Chris

Hi Chris,

Nice detailing on the Disco, what do you use for washing the car and waxing when it needs it?

Cheers Kev

Hi Kev,

I have put this on a couple of times but could not find my other thread:

1. Pressure wash to get most of muck off.

2. Use Gilmour (an attachment that you put on the end of the hose) with Snow Foam (cleaner that goes in the gilmour), leave for 5 - 10 mins
Hose/pressure wash off.

3. Use two bucket method to wash the car. One bucket is half full with warm water and a squirt of Meguiars Hyper Wash, the other bucket is full of clean warm water. You then use a wool mitten taking wash from half bucket and rinse it in the full bucket every time you have wiped part of the car. Rinse off car using hose - NOT pressure washer. This makes sure you have got every bit of grit and dirt off the car. A pressure washer is not that good at this.

4. Spray with Meuiars last touch (http://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=9087) whilst still wet. Dry with Eurow X Large Waffle Weave Microfibre Drying Towel (http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=196) This is wiped very gently over the car and once again you will be suprised at how easy it is and how well the car comes up.

4A. Additionally and every few washes you can use Poorboys QW+ after 4 above. (http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=qw&x=0&y=0) This product is wiped on and wiped off. It is the simplest and easiest method of getting a shine without the hard work. Personally I think it is a hidden secret in the car detailing world!

5. A couple of times a year Auto-clay car using Pro Detailer + Carnauba. This is an incredible product that will leave you suprised at how much dirt is still on the car even after you have washed it well!

6. Meguiars all purpose cleaner on wheels. Followed up with Poorboys wheel sealant and New Look Trim Gel. http://www.cleanandshiny.co.uk/ProductDetails.asp?ProductID=10135 This product is superb at all the plastic bits around the car. In my opinion it is the best product for cleaning plastic I have come across.

7. Inside the interior none leather will be cleaned using Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner and where necessary a dashboard brush. Then use Poorboys Natural Look http://www.elitecarcare.co.uk/product_info.php?products_id=61

8. Windows cleaned using Autoglym Car Glass Polish and Microfibre Cloths.

That should keep you busy and very impressed with the results. Let me know if you need more info.

Regards

Chris

Recently cleaned wheels with the Supagard wheel cleaner.....cleaned up well....then waxed the wheels with normal car wax.....it has made cleaning the wheels alot easier and so far I've had no baked on hard brake dust spots.

Wheels - the final hurdle!

Having invested in a Gilmour, Snow Foam, Hyper Wash, Last Touch, All Purpose and various other recommended bits and pieces, I can therapeutically clean my beast in 2 hours. When done it is gleaming - almost embarrassingly so.

The final hurdle is/ hurdles are the wheels. Having spent a couple of months running from Plymouth to London they got pretty messed up with road grime and brake dust. The end result is that I now have black dust deposits in all of the corners on the wheels (07MY style 2 10 spoke). I have jet washed, scrubbed, used various cleaners and so on, but nothing shifts the dust and it feels like it has actually corroded the wheels. Has anyone got any advice for getting it clean and protecting it. I am now able to clean the car every couple of weeks so should be able to stay firmly on top of any cleaning regime!

PS Last Touch is the business, cos I hate waxing, always getting the cream over everything, but that stuff is superb.

See post above......I had hard deposits on wheels and used the Supagard wheel cleaner....It foamed up and I left it a couple of minutes, then the wheels came up spot less with a minimal amount of work......then I got out some old car wax I no longer use and gave the wheels a coating of wax.......now.....nearly all brake dust and grime comes off with the pressure washer.

Ajolious.

Dirty wheel's, try oven cleaning foam Mr., whats his name, spray
on leave to soak ,scrub off ,rinse should work and its cheaper
than alloy wheel cleaner, could be same stuff, if it can clean
an oven it should clean your wheels.

Snow foam and the gilmour is excellent...loosens up all the bugs.
