Clearance

I parked my 06 tdv6s next to my brother in law's 05tdv6se and I noticed that at the rear the clearance appears lower than his. The front seems about the same or a little higher (ive got 265/65 17s which in theory gives me 8mm more). I measured the clearance at the lowest point under the rear axle (exuahst pipe) and got 165mm and 170mm a different occasion. (difference could be related to paving). As far as im aware the minimum clearance should be around 185mm in standard setting. Id like to get an idea what others measure, to see if its worth bringing up with the stealer.

If you're measuring under the axle - there should be no differance between the settings , as it is the body that lifts not the axle . Do you both have the same size tyres (and rims)

I measured at the lowest point under the vehicle in line with the rear axle. Basically where the 2 exhaust pipes part and make thier way around the spare tyre, more or less under the rear diff. My tyres are indeed the same size and on the same size rims. Shocked If this wasnt the case I think clearance would be the least of my problems Whistle To me the rear just seems to sit a little lower than others.

Mine is 180mm after the "Disco fart" ie after switching off engine- before the fart a bit higher. But then I have the 245/75 17" wheels which should give it slightly more lift.

My lowest part is the bracket under the chassis rail, just backwards of the diff.
Looks like a bash plate mount and is 190 mm. But the shock mounts on the
lower control arms are 180 mm.
Bushboysteve are your rear tyres not a little under inflated, I run the same size
but have to pump to 3.5 bar on the rears.

Ill have to look for that plate, my exhaust is the lowest thing by far and has had a ding or 2 as a result. My rear tyres are normally at 2.6bar, so perhaps I should look at increasing the pressure, how is ride comfort and tread wear at those pressures?. I suppose what really counts is clearance when youre driving, so perhaps the best measurement is when its running. I have also noticed that after driving a bumpy road in normal height mode, when you stop, the ride height is significantly higher,.....until the D3 fart.

Mine also have dings in them, and yes they are lowest point at 175 mm.
I use to run the tyre pressures at 2.5 bar all round, and found the rears
were starting to feather on the outer tread blocks and looking at them
they seemed to be under inflated. The ride is a bit more harsh at 3.5
bar and looks about right with the eye.
I just did a re-measure with the engine running and now at 200 mm.
