Climate control issue: passenger gets cold air
I've just noticed that the passenger is getting cold air from the vents, irrespective of the temperature they've selected on the dial. The dial is having an effect, but only a tiny one - outside temperature air or slightly less unpleasant outside temperature (it's 2C here this morning).
What needs a kick please?

I've managed to get the passenger side heat back enough so a couple of degrees higher on the dial is the same as the drivers side.
I just attached a hose pipe and blasted away in both directions. A bit of radiator flush would probably help too.

Local mechanic has tried a flushing agent to no avail. I’m now noticing a general lack of deep heat on my side too.
As part of a much larger job - 144K service - a rather larger workshop will try a solvent-based flushing agent next week, but if that doesn’t do it then it will just have to be replaced. Given all the other stuff they’re going to be doing anyway, which includes replacing the permanently squealing heater blower, it’s become almost incidental additional work.

Well, now a new matrix has been installed the improvements are staggering - the old matrix had clearly been becoming less and less effective for quite some time. Really pleased with the end result.
The bill is a different matter. Even using Land Rover’s own guide, it took them a total of 11 hours. Even with some of those hours unbilled (“it wasn’t your fault”) and with a 30% discount applied as it was almost the only job they had on, it’s still a very large sum to spend on an ‘05 Disco with 144,000 miles on it just to get it warm again. That’s a subject in its own right.
The complication was that the later design of matrix has extended pipes so as to remove the need for a joint behind the dashboard. This is commendable as there has been issues with those joints weeping, but it does mean that the front seats and entire dash have to come out. He could have cut the pipes down and replaced from the joint, which would have been much less disruptive, but he didn’t want to have leave a known issue in place on a job he will now warrant for a year. In his defence, right at the start of this - they’ve also done the huge 144K service - I did say I wanted all this done properly and just once, so he’s taken me at my word and done what I wanted done the way I wanted it done. I can’t do it myself, so if money has to change hands...

Yes. The previous poster mentioned, the original (up to some MY) heater core was a separate component and the pipes another component. This changed at some point to a core with integrated pipes all the way to the firewall, I think.
As Pete K mentioned, the Nissens heater core is still in two parts. I’ve included some pictures below.
