The clutch on my 118k 55 D3 manual is splipping when pushed in 3rd gear and returns to normal if gentle . Reckon its on its way out , can anyone advise on a good place near Bath/Bristol to get it changed and also how much it might cost?

I was very surprised at how little the main stealers wanted to do this. From memory it was 700 notes including parts. I can't find the quote now. I'm guessing that was without a new flywheel.

I think you should replace the lot? flywheel as well? I recall someone said that there was a website where you could get quotes from from dealers that were pretty good?

I've just had mine done. I got the parts from Adavnced factors and then got my local indie (Corsham Tyres) to fit them. From the top of my head it was about £900 all in. I replaced the clutch, DM fly wheel and slave cylinder.
Just found the AF parts recipt: £476.73
As always great servce from AF and Corsham Tyres who are brilliant. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)
Sold Volvo XC90 R-Design (known as Basil)
Sold - D4 HSE (Known as Gerty)
No longer the Old Buses original owner
231,000 miles and counting
05 S manual owned from March 2005
D4 Face lifted
Still original injectors and turbo

reasonable is £1200 including a new dual mass flywheel
had mine done twice now thanks to SWMBO! Disco 3 2.7 TDV6 55 Buckingham Blue Base
15% tints / Group Buy Stainless Steel Sill Plates / Trillogy B144 tailpipes / Stupidly Large Steel Bull Bar 8)
EGR Blanking plates / Side Steps / Very Big LR roof Box / BAS remap
New AC condensor / New Clutch & DM Flywheel / New Air Compressor, pipe set & Relay/another new clutch plate thanks to SWMBO/ new cross over pipe (without the body coming off)

No, in fact in spannering terms it's fairly easy. The issue comes with the weight and size of the bits you are trying to manhandle

See you're in Bath, may be worth giving Gloucester Road Gearboxes a call (Bristol) I think a couple on here have used them on here Iggy/Ieuan

thanks for the tips, booked it into local garage at Beckington end of the week with LUK fittings. supposed to be just over a grand , but less than LR dealer who quoted 1650. oh and at least two week away!

New clutch fitted, just over a grand, LUK fitted, including flywheel, seems to have made the car feel a load better ride wise.....
