Cold start fault?

Hi all be gentle its my first post Embarassed Right the last couple of days noticed a flat spot from the engine when driving off from cold, today had the window down and could here a sort of rattle but more like a chatter like a valve pulsing after this has gone about min or two everything is fine. After work tonight i started the car and listened around the drivers wheel sounds like its coming from that side of the engine Big Cry so was just wondering if anyone's come across this.I will investigate over the weekend and see what i can find, trouble is once i have started it once that's it for the day so doesn't give me much time to diagnose. So any ideas would be very much appreciated Thumbs Up [/b]

Hi woody32

I think they all do this upon start up. Certsainly all the ones I know, including mine, have a nice clatter that disappears quite quickly - doesn't last a minute though?

I always assumed it was the emission control gubbins dealing with start up.
end of an era ....... maybe a Defender when it appears.......

woody, is your rover a TDV6 or V8? Ours (4.4L) rattles for a couple of seconds upon nearly every startup, guessing its failed VVT's. Been doing this since 30-40k miles.

Hi troverman i have got a TDV6 but thanks for your input Thumbs Up
Yes checked the oil gareth, but its not that sort of rattle im thinking along the same lines as waynebates sounds like EGR chattering but only on drivers side, saying that its been ok over the past week.probably spoke to soon Rolling Eyes Going to fit A frame and spots over the weekend oh and fit my Disco 3 sticker Whistle So maybe that will cheer the old girl up Smile
