Don't know if that's entirely true Ken
A lot of folks in the dealer game have traditionally marked down a white car at trade-in based on the (lack of) colour. Of course, any excuse to give a punter in order to offer less money is a good excuse.
To be fair to BL, a white BM or a white Volvo on a forecourt have often been perceived to be an ex-police motor. That's probably changing now though as the boyz in blue tend to use anything but white these days.
In fact, I'd be more suspicious of a silver motor nowadays.......
White D3 is the mutts and I'll be surprised if someone doesn't bite your hand off soon. The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

Well given I buy & sell cars for a 1200 plus unit fleet I may know a bit
Each to their own a car is only worth what you sell it for or what you are prepared to pay for it
White at the mo is in vogue and in short supply in the previously enjoyed sector although a good buyer will knock you down if you are prepared to take it then thats your call the buyer at the mo will be laughing all the way to the next sale.
How long it will last of course in another question
I have a white D2 and then last week made the move to a white LR3 - love the contrast of the white with the black trim
White is great for keeping the interior temps down here in California and in Arizona where I go wheeling. Gets to 114F in the dessert, so you need all the help you can get.
I know that Blighty won't get that hot anytime soon - but even on a normal sunny day, the white Disco is cooler to get into.
White is easy to maintain - doesn't show scratches and swirls - and stays looking clean way longer than darker colours.
Not had a chance to snap pics of my new ride in action yet, but here's the D2 up on the Arizona/Utah border in Monument Valley - see how good white looks!

There having a 'Brokeback Mountain' moment in the back of the D2!

In the past when me or friends had white we noticed that they didnt look dirty until you start to clean them, on the other hand black seemed to show dirt up as a light colour so always looked dirty.
btw I'm not a fan of white colour....Experience is a difficult teacher, because she gives the test first and then the lesson afterwards!!!!

VW started the current flat white trend when they ordered (by mistake apparently) a bunch of press Tiguan's.
They panicked than realised it looked pretty good and at the time unique in that colour... now as you say, many vendors are now doing white version for press and PR... Audi, BMW, Fiat, VW etc.
And ron... I also saw most of the colour range recently and as Si says, they all look pretty darn smart apart from silver.
And the white one under perfect interior lighting as well as a gloomy exterior lit vehicle looked the bees
The painted arches, new front bumper and rear bumper (takes some getting used to that bit) looked very good.
Still not convinced its the right way to go for us minority of owners that take then off road and down narrow country lanes though.
