Compressor and Warranty Direct - Any Experience?

At 112k miles and almost 8 years old (the car, not me!) it looks like I'm gonna need my 3rd (ie. 2nd replacement) compressor. The last being fitted just over 2 years ago Evil or Very Mad

So, the Indie is waiting on WD to approve the claim. Anyone had any recent experience of this claim with WD?

Am fearing the worst (although I can't see why they should refuse it?) and wondering if others have succeeded in getting them to cover it?

Hi,
I've had three claims all paid by Warranty Direct over the past 12 months.
1) EGR valves etc claim £594.15
2) Suspension compressor etc claim and (3) seat belt latch claim £636.52 (combined)
I had no problems with any of these, and the work was competently done by Rovertune in Reading.
All of these were for the first replacements in an '07 at around 50k miles.
Not sure why you should be anxious if you've complied with their rules, my experience has been that they've been straight-forward to deal with (I'm aware that others report different experiences however!)

Cheers Moxox, have had mixed experiences with them TBH, some approved and some refused. Can't see any reason why they would refuse this one, but we will see Neutral

if the compressor is still working but not producing enough pressure they say that the compressor has not failed it has just worn out then class it as a wear and tear item and may not replace

Yes it has "failed", it's not working to specification hence WD will cover it. WD don't need something to be in a pile of broken pieces to be covered, unlike some warranties. Even if deemed to be wear & tear it's covered, unless it's in the 90 day initial exemption (which doesn't apply if it's back to back with another warranty). Thumbs Up

Not sure it's always as clear cut as that DSL, when I last spoke to them (not on this particular claim), their first line of defence was 'would it fail an MOT?'. My Indie fought back on that one and they did back down. Fingers crossed...

It's how it's worked for me, prob "failed MOT" would refer to suspension bushes but not sure mine ever got that bad before being replaced.

Prob a good example of failing but still working would be my AC compressor. AC was working but a leak in the compressor meant it needed regassing every few months. It's still working but got replaced because of the leak. Mr. Green

I've had a coule of claims through Warranty Direct and had no significant issues. One claim for £900 ish was covered by WD but they somehow negotiated this down to £260 with the dealer. either way, i'm happy. I find that with the full package it's pretty straight forward as long as all your documents are in order.

As previously said, mostly comes down to how the claim is worded Whistle

Absatidellingtootlie. If your dealer/indi/garage can be bothered/knows his onions (when dealing with the warranty co) then you stand a much better chance. Thumbs Up

my warranty company were pretty good at refusing claims on the grounds that parts hadn't suffered "catastrophic failure", they did however pay up for a second compressor without any quibble whatsoever. The first one was replaced by LR.
They're a known weak point so IMO it's unlikely you'll have any issues.

Well, it seems we're in the delaying tactics stage. Been waiting 24 hours now for them to consider things, despite a number of chasers.

I'm sure they do this in the hope that you just get on with it at your own cost, knowing that you are either without wheels or relying on the garage's goodwill and their loaner for transport. Luckily, my place is pretty good in that regard but, as much as Fiestas have come on leaps and bounds since I last drove one, I can't say I want to hang on to it any longer than necessary Whistle

i claimed for a replacement suspension compressor with warranty direct as the red suspension warning light was permanently on along with do not drive above 30mph warning
claim was made by local indie and approved within 30 minutes new compressor fitted later that day
cheque from warranty direct arrived in the post 6 days later

Thanks for all the replies folks Thumbs Up At least if they do try to decline I can now confidently ask why, when they have paid up for the same part for other people / cars.
