Contrôle Technique

Afternoon,

Our D3 has just failed it's first Contrôle Technique in France, the main points were the lights.

4.1.2.a.2. ORIENTATION (FEUX DE CROISEMENT) : L'orientation d'un feu de
croisement n'est pas dans les limites prescrites par les exigences : D, G

4.1.4.a.2. CONTORU|TE AVEC LES EXIGENCES (PHARES) : Feu, couleur 6mise,
position, intensit6 ou marquage non conforme aux exigences : AVD, AVG

Has anyone recently had their car pass with UK specification headlights - using just the switch in the units.

Thanks,

David

Luxembourg

I don't know for sure in France, hit here in Luxembourg there is no way that a UK car can pass the Control Technique without replacing the lights as they are not pointing the right direction.

I'm surprised by this because my understanding was that the internal lever makes the pattern neutral. Some cars ... FL2 being one IIRC... only have this neutral pattern.

Not all D3 lights have the little lever ISTR. Was t it just the dancing lights from the HSE? Certainly the xenons from an 06SE I fitted to my 06S didn’t, not did my standard halogens.

Though I might be wrong, it has been known. So they say. Whistle

We do have the little lever, and apparently the tester played with it.

I was worried I had set one on LHD and one on RHD as the lever is not clear, but both left and right lights failed so they're either both set to RHD or the level does not make them compliant ?

They commented on the fog light pattern too, but that is only a minor fault.

Update on the Contrôle Technique.

We removed the "UK" stickers from the top of the headlight units and the car has just passed.

Only had a minor fault for the front fog lights pointing the wrong way.
