Control buttons on steering wheel gone crazy

I have problems with the various controls on the steering wheel. Sometimes the cruise control won't pick up(after I pull over and stop the engine it is fine again), when adjusting the volume nothing happens or the cd skips to the next track. When I want to skip to a next track the volume goes up. All unstrctured random errors. Anybody experienced this before and any idea about what might cause these problems?
Thanks.

AFAIK it is a safety issue as the airbag uses that part too. So get it fixed might even be waranty.
