coolant leak low water warning light outlet manifol replace
It happened this summer when I was on holiday in Corsica.
The low water warning light came onto the dash. A quick check showed a coolant leak between engine vee. With engine running while grabbing the coolant hose which stays above the timing belt cover I was able to increase the leak by gently pushing downward.
I suddenly jumped on here to discover it's a known issue round 150k km. Well car was 185k on the clock.
A quick phone call to "my" dealer revealed the correct replacement PN (LR073372).
Phoned LR corsica, ordered the new part and after a few days I had a shining new manifold.

Local LR shop refused to replace it immediately saying it would have taken a lot of time so I decided to DIY as usual.
I replaced it at a gas station using my boat tool box in about 30 minutes even if this was my first time
now it comes the how to
Wait until car is in sleep mode then open the bonnet.
Remove engine cover. First remove the oil plug then pull the cover then refit the oil plug. no pics.
Remove the B air duct (thanks MhR for the pic )
One jubilee at the MAF and two screws (number 1 and 2), then pull it upward. It's easy.
Be careful something could drop inside the hole left open after duct removal.
Loosen the front intake bolt between fan blades and remove the circlip which secures it to the Y intake.
Loosen the Y intake upper bolt and move it sideways and rotate it untile removal.

Remove the clips and the spring jubilee of manifold hoses and remove them

Undoo the four bolts which keep manifold in place

Throw away the old manifold and replace with the new one.
Before fitting the new one clean the surface as there should be some
Do not overtighten the four bolts unless you want to crack the manifold. Don't forget it's LR plastic
Refit all the other stuff.
Before replacing the manifold I had to top of coolant frequently with Saint Georges, "acqua linda di i nosci muntagni" so I bought two liters of pink fluid for the last topoff.
Then purge the system by running the engine and loosening the vent screw.
I know it looks cryptic but it's simple

Good description Filo. I had this manifold leakage problem. You'll notice that the manifold is made up of two parts and moulded together. The join splits open and hence the water leak. Cause could be either old age or even an engine overheat. Self inflicted overheat did mine!! 2007 Disco3 2.7 tdv6 SE
gvif with reversing camera
V8 brakes with new EPB module and shoes
Later D4 grille
Alive tuning remap
Mazda MX5
Ferguson ted20 tractor
Hyundai Getz 1.4 (wife's )
I'd vote for the age. Mine is 8yo and 187k now. Well it's no longer mine but I plan to have a "new" disco shortly

Old thread this one, but it was the root cause of my mysterious water leak (couldn't find out where the damn stuff was going!). Worth noting this is D4, not D3 - ought really to be in D4 area.
I can confirm that swapping out the water manifold which sits directly below the air intake is actually not too bad at all if a little daunting initially.
I swapped the O rings on the inlet manifold 'Y' piece and the O ring on the throttle intake manifold. I didn't get the O ring for the oil cooler inlet (this water manifold sits on top of the oil cooler) and lo and behold it leaked once I'd put it all back together so if you do it, get a new O ring (LR013151). You do get new seals for the engine side water inlet/outlet with the manifold.
I've got to fit the final new O ring later and I'll try and get some pics as I do it to assist anyone with the same problem.

Even though it is an old post, it is very actual!
My housing snapped while I was on road, with an overheated engine as result!
It is crap indeed, such an important part for the car and then just moulded together.
