Coolant leak onto turbo intake pipe

Afternoon all
While changing eng oil today I have found a coolant leak. Rolling Eyes
Its the NS of the engine above the AC compressor and leaks onto the turbo intake pipe and steering rack.

I ran out of time to delve further into it
by the looks of it.... It will be nasty to say the least.
Attached are some quick pic's

Anyone got any suggestions as what is likely to be the culprit??

TIA

Finally getting round to this. It is as nasty as first thought
It is a split hose onto the engine block just in front of the turbo.
I'm trying to find this elbow hose now

Its still not clear to me which one it is??
The hose is about a 38mm diameter

The hose is shown in your diagram, but no part number attached, so I assume it is not available from AF.

Hi mate

Found the part number PEL500310, alas though it looks like an assembly and not just that hose

Will keep looking for u as I wonder if u can get some silicone hoses to replace just the broken park, as the assembly is around £300

Found some silicone hoses with a range of sizes, just wonder if that could be a cheaper solution for u instead of the large assembly

https://www.autosiliconehoses.com/silicone...e-red.html

Elbow is around £11.00 but assume ur have to remove the old hose to measure it accurately for the internal size , plus some T bolt clamps if room permits

Hope it’s useful

Ps, still looking for u

Thanks much appreciated @gstuart I'm coming to that realisation now that they don't sell that individual hose Big Cry Ordinarily i wouldn't mind the 300 quid rip off (all the hoses are now 17 years old) but with this ULEZ Censored coming in next year i only have a year left in the disco.
Looks like i will have to remove the air strut and possibly top wishbone just to do the job, i just hope i have a suitable hose laying about at work (or the local spares shop if not ) to do it.

Hiya

Ur so welcome

Sorry to hear that regarding the ULEZ, Big Cry will that mean ur have to get a Euro 6 vehicle to comply and not have to pay anything

Wonder if u can get access by removing the EGR as indeed looks a right Censored to gain access to it

Know when I replace my turbo inlet pipe that was a complete and utter Basterward

Fingers crossed u have an elbow or maybe one of the silicone elbows, at least it will be a lot cheaper

Please let us know how u get on, plus once again so sorry that ur going to be forced to sell ur pride and joy

Also just found this company , maybe just maybe it’s the right size so u could cut the elbow off to use just that section

Plus has the measurements at the bottom of the page

Hope it may be useful to u

Not waffling at all, much appreciated!!

I am truly gutted about this ULEZ rubbish, what really annoys me is a V8 gas guzzler of the same year as my diesel currently meets the required standard. I am still contemplating buying a V8 TBH.... the little child in me want to show Mr. Khan the 2 fingers each time i drive it.
Finding a suitable replacement for under 10k that has even half the stuff the d3 has is not easy, the truth is a used d3 really is great value for money right now, and both my insurance and road tax come to less than 600 quid, some road tax alone of similar vehicle's is that much. Anyways rant over.

Used your link above and ordered a couple of hoses and t clamps for 35mm and 38mm ID im out 40 quid rather than 300 odd so thanks very much Thumbs Up
I'm certain to have 40mm ID hoses at work as a very common size on our work vehicle's
Will measure when its off for others that happen to have the same issue.

Well this has not gone well at all. I have now termed this "the hose from hell"
LR in there wisdom, do the complete kit..... because to do it properly, it would be much much quicker to take the body off. In all i have spent 18 HOURS changing this hose. Im fairly confident after spending so much time in the area that i could have changed the turbo 3 or 4 times.... in the time it has taken to change this one bloody hose.
Access is extremely hindered by the air strut mount, the air con compressor, the chassis and the top wishbone mounts....... removing the egr valve would only offers a little more space to one the easier of the 2 hose clips, but i doubt the whole job could be done from there.
I removed top wishbone, brake pipe, wiring and heat shields just to see the hose, the real fun began when actually trying to remove the old hose, nothing in the tool box could do anything with the spring clip hose clamp on the metal pipe the one on the engine block is easy.(and you can barely even see the one on the metal pipe) It was eventually removed with fencing wire twisted round the squeeze points until it opened enough for it to be ripped off.

My advise to anyone attempting on doing this themselves would be to :

1. get someone else to do it
2. take the body off.

The correct hose size is 38mm on engine block / 35mm on metal pipe, so it is an offset elbow hose, should anyone feel stupid enough to attempt the same job.
