Cracked Intake Manifold DIY
Good morning everybody
After an year of diy fixing my rh intake manifold with al sorts of chemical and fiber fluids, I decided to repair it myself. What should I say, what a f... job. 14 hours of hard labour, alone two hours for the fuel line bracket on the backside of the zylinderhead! But I managed it, I reasembled the hole mess, with no nuts and bolts left over, the engine started with no faults and runs smoothly.
But when I came home from the test drive including 8 km german autobahn, it smelt like hell. I the workshop I found out I have a massive oil leak!
Now the question, has anybody an Idea where it could cone from? The cover seal is dry as far as I can see, the only thing I remaked was an not really tight screw on the back right edge of the cover. Can here pour the oil out?

silly question, but is it definitely Oil?
I had mine done at a main dealer, they didn't replace the fuel pipes, and they leaked like fk.
It stunk and smoked when I kicked down.

Yes, the fuel lines are absolutly dry, and I think if there is a massive fuel leak, there will be a fuel pressure fault code.
here some photos

99,99% from the back (rear - cabin side) of the engine, camshaft cover....
When intalling it's necessary to put some bit of sealant an pay attention whe installing the shaft seal

Thankx Disco_Mikey
you are right, the seal was not in the right place, the good thing is, the second time your much faster
but found out what the problem is:
sombody knows what this bolt holds, it prevents that you can put the cover on directly from above, you have to frickle it around, can I screw it out? I will never get it in when the cover is mounted.

One an a half year later the oherside is cracked. Now i found on the german Autodoc Site new aftermarket covers for about 80€. Has anybody experiences with these?
Here´s a picture of my fast DIY repair with 2-component glue and a little bit of glassfiber enforcement.

I cannot say from any great experience, but when mine went, all the advice I got was to not mess around with cheap parts and just fit the LR parts. However I have seen no data to support than, just hearsay.
