cruise control

my cruise control is intermittent,

any idea what could be the cause?

wiring harness

clock spring?

any easy tests to carry out or easiset part to replace first?

Just sorted mine recently. Disconnected battery, removed air bag with bent coat hanger, (had to really heave on clips to release)...then unclipped wiring loom and used elecrical contact cleaner on plugs. Liberally sprayed WD40 on switches and left to 'soak' overnight. Refitted switch panel and air bag, which needed a bit of a 'thump' to reclip into position...and hey presto it now works fine!!
Certainly worth doing first before renewing the loom or switch panel and your right ankle won't complain so much on a long journey!!

Recently fixed mine after many years by replacing the switches on the steering wheel.

Its common for the wires to break away from the connector under the airbag
