Not D4 related, but CTEK and AGM battery related:

This Mini we've bought has an AGM battery fitted. I would like to give the battery a good reconditioning charge this weekend but I only have a CTEK MXS 25, which has no AGM setting.

Am I OK to do a reconditioning charge on the Mini's AGM battery using my CTEK MXS 25 without doing any permanent damage to the battery?

Thanks,

Steve

The latest AGM batteries charge ok with the Ctek in normal mode. I only tend to use the AGM mode on an AGM battery when it is cold.

Hi JonM, as Robbie posted, you should not use the conditioning mode on anything other than “OPEN” wet cell type batteries. These are the batteries that have filler caps.
“
If you need to condition a “sealed” type battery, you can use any 3 stage type battery charger.

Simply charge the battery until the charger goes into FLOAT mode and then leave the battery in float mode for 8 to 10 hours then turn the charger off.

Let the battery settle for about 12 hours and repeat the 8 to 10 hour float charge cycle.

You can do this as often as you like and this type of charging will not only recondition older batteries but will help to keep newer batteries in good condition and makes them easier to fully charge
