Ctek Charger

Hello
Have just fitted a Ctek comfort Indicator panel in the false air intake .Before I plug the Ctek MX10 in to charge the battery I need to alter the setting on the MX10 .Have looked at the D4 battery label and it has this on ....12v 90Ah
850A (EN)
AGM/VRLA/MF
Any idea what setting I need on the MX10......

Regards
Matt

Yes its the AGM from memory it means Advanced Glass Matt and it is the way the battery is built and needs a different charging pattern

Just use the regular charging mode. If it is well below freezing then the AGM mode of the Ctek is a good option but for regular use the normal mode is just fine.

Thumbs Up

Matt this maybe obvious to some but i didnt know about it when i connected my Ctek.

Make sure the negative is connected to a ground and not the negative of the battery. If you connect to the negative of the battery you will get an error message along the lines of "low battery please start vehicle" on your dash.

Thanks Everyone for the advice. Got the negative connected to the earth just in front of the battery box.

I picked up a MXS10 in the Amazon sale. Set it up today, with the comfort connectors using the positive on the battery (same connection as another cable was already using), and the negative to a ground point near the FBH.

Battery is JLR labelled so not sure if it is the original one (car was built Sep 2011). In any case, it showed it was AGM, so I set the CTEK accordingly.

Plugged it all in, and within 3 minutes it was at the bulk stage (getting to 80% charge if I follow), after an hour or so, it moved to the absorption stage. It was in this stage when I had to unplug it since I needed to use the car.

Lets see if the sorts the low fuel/battery warning that comes up each morning when the FBH is meant to have done it's thing.

On a separate note, how often are people using their chargers? Once a month? More/less?

What difference does the AGM mode make?

Can you use the charger on any sized battery (other cars in the household), or does it specific a minimum capacity etc? From what I gathered, the models of the charger tend to allow for more current/faster charging etc, but I am not sure if there is an associated limit to the batteries/vehciles it can be used on.
