Hi all.
My 2005 SE TDV6 has been fitted with a D4 steering wheel before I got it. The flappy paddle gear change works fine, as does the raidio/CD controls.
The problem I have is with the cruise control, which seems to work sometimes (and when it works it works correctly) and then sometimes it just doesn't work.
When it's working, as soon as I press the cruise button, an orange light comes on the dash and it works fine, then I'll cancel it.... and then it wont work again ??
Any ideas where to start looking ? I have a IID tool, is there a menu that lets you look at the key press commands to see if they are being received by the ECU ?
Thanks

My newly fitted D4 steering wheel is causing me issues also, everything works except cruise and I can't access iid as I have the steering wheel controlled one so can't access fault, but worked perfectly prior to changing.
Hopefully you will find the answer

You should have a lead with your IID that allows you to connect it to a laptop via the USB port. That's what I used until I got the BlueTooth version

Hi Mat,
Mine does exactly the same (though a manual box and D3 wheel), I had a look at all my codes recently, nothing obvious. My current assumption is steering wheel angle sensor probably needs calibration. Well, that and the fact the wheel isn't straight yet. Does your wheel point straight ahead when travelling, or has it got an offset?

I think you can not make this comparison straight away....
If there is any fault on the system in the D3, cruise control wil “cut off”
Not specific with the angele sensor... can be everthing.. , brake pedal, abs, etc...
Big chance the D4 steering wheel issues are or have a completely different source...
So a own topic makes more sense imho... Best regards
Harold

Thanks for the replies guys.
There are no associated fault codes relating to the cruise control read by the IID tool.
The wheels & steering angle sensor are correct.
The cruise doesn't cut out when selected, obviously brake press etc stops it, it seems to be if I manually cancel it, then try to set it again.
BTW mine is an auto box.
Thx

Mine was working then didnt,
suspect the wiring harness or the clock spring.
can anyone confirm whether the cruise control light, lights up when the vehicle does a self test when you turn the keys on?

Pfff, as said above...
If there is any fault on the system in the D3, cruise control wil “cut off”
can be everthing.. , brake pedal, abs, etc..
When it is not working, in most cases has nothing to do with the CC itself..
But that is D3 with D3 steering wheel, this topic is about a D4 steering wheel in a D3 Best regards

Sorry to resurrect. Anyone get to the bottom of this by any chance? Same issue, D4 wheel on D3, intermittent fault with corresponding fault reported. Guessing clock spring, but just thought I'd check in first.
Thanks

It will be the clock spring. One thing to check though first. When driving apply the cruise from the steering wheel when driving to turn it off press the brake not the cruise off button. Then when driving steadily again apply again. It should work ok. But don’t turn off with the cruise switch, just use the brake. If this works it’s the squib.
Nothing to do with the cruise switch.

So my EPM is not working, I have the brake light flashing on the dash (I need to get the module out). Could this be the cause of the Cruise not working? It worked previously, b4 I tried to fix the EPM.
