D3 to D4 Conversion Fast Flash Indicators |
|
This topic must have been done to death but can't find a direct answer....Early D4 headlights fitted to a D3 tend to fast flash on the dash.
OEM Phillips halogen bulbs fitted, do I need to install 15 Ohm resistor like is necessary when installing D4 rear lights?
The fog/pdc loom splice is straight forward and info readily available, but from the facelift threads I've read, the fast flash ssue isn't answered directly.
Any direct link, or confirmation of the above is much appreciated.

If the indicators are LED then yes you need resistors.

OEM LR014111 bulbs fitted. I thought fast flash was perhaps a quirk of D4 headlights fitted to D3?
Perhaps not then? Maybe it's just a duff bulb.

Are the bulbs actually flashing OK outside?
The dash fast flash is a warning that a bulb has failed, it uses current sensing to work this out.
The lower current drawn when a bulb blows triggers the warning.
The D4 rear lamp conversion (or swapping to LED "bulbs") triggers this as the current draw is much smaller than with a bulb. The resistors draw current, which stops the blown bulb warning triggering.
